Vijay Mallya mijdt ook de Grand Prix van China

Force India-teambaas Vijay Mallya zal ook de Chinese Grand Prix van komend weekend niet bijwonen. De Indiase autoriteiten hebben het op hem voorzien vanwege een rechtszaak die schuldeisers tegen hem hebben aangespannen. Mallya miste Australië en Bahrein ook al.

The Telegraph schrijft dat hij op 2 maart India verliet en in eerste instantie in een landhuis in het zuiden van Engeland verbleef dat hij vorig jaar voor 16 miljoen dollar van de vader van Lewis Hamilton had overgenomen. The Hindustan Times bericht dat Mallya drie oproepen om voor de rechtbank te verschijnen heeft genegeerd en dat ze nu zijn paspoort in willen trekken.

Een woordvoerder van het directoraat in India bevestigde: "Het heeft er alle schijn van dat de heer Mallya ten koste van alles probeert een terugkeer naar India te vermijden. Als zijn paspoort wordt ingetrokken, dan heeft het land waarin hij verblijft geen andere keus dan hem uit te zetten."
