Azerbeidzjan versoepelt visumprocedure voor F1

Azerbeidzjan heeft de regels met betrekking tot het verstrekken van een visum versoepeld met het oog op de allereerste Formule 1-race in het land. Op 19 juni vindt de eerste Grand Prix van Europa in de straten van hoofdstad Bakoe plaats. Om te zorgen dat de media, teamleden en internationale fans zonder problemen het land in en uit kunnen heeft de Azerbeidzjaanse regering maatregelen getroffen.

In een verklaring van de organisatie van de Grand Prix in Bakoe staat: "De visumprocedure is enorm versimpeld met het oog op de Formule 1-race in Azerbeidzjan. Alle permanente pashouders van de media en afgevaardigden van FIA, FOM en de teams kunnen bij aankomst op Heydar Aliyev International Airport in Bakoe op vertoon van hun paspoort relatief eenvoudig een visum aanvragen bij een van de daarvoor bestemde balies. Hetzelfde proces is van toepassing op Formule 1-fans uit het buitenland, op vertoon van paspoort en toegangskaart voor de Grand Prix. De speciale balies voor een visum zijn vanaf 1 juni open. Een visum kost 35 euro."

Ondertussen krijgt de toren voor de wedstrijdleiding in Bakoe steeds meer gestalte:

  Waarschijnlijk is het zo goedkoper en je hoeft er de deur niet voor uit, dus makkelijker.

  Dat is dus helemaal afhankelijk van de beschikbaarheid van een ambassade van het betreffende land. Voor Mongolië hebben we in Nederland bijvoorbeeld geen ambassade. Hiervoor moest ik mijn paspoort opsturen naar Brussel. Na 3 weken kreeg ik hem vervolgens pas terug met het benodigde visum er in. Ik kan me voorstellen dat dit voor medewerkers van een Formule 1 team onmogelijk is.

Wordt weer zo'n race waar van staatswege de tribunes gevuld worden. Ik kan mij nauwelijks voorstellen dat er veel lokalo's of buitenlandse fans geïnteresseerd zijn.
