Button houdt van 'competitie-element' in de F1

Wat maakt racen zo leuk voor coureurs? Met die vraag stapte McLaren op Jenson Button af. Button is met zijn 36 jaar een van de veteranen op de Formule 1-grid. Hij heeft al 287 Grands Prix verreden en in 2009 veroverde hij de wereldtitel. Hij heeft dus niets meer te bewijzen, maar toch blijft hij maar doorgaan, gewoon omdat hij leuk vindt wat hij doet. Wat drijft hem?

Button: "Het besturen van een snelle auto is niet hetgeen dat mij opwindt aan deze sport. Dat is niet waarom ik race, dat is niet waarom ik na zeventien nog steeds actief ben op dit niveau. Het zijn de wiel-aan-wiel gevechten waar de vonken vanaf spatten en waarin je echt strijdt voor positie. Dat is waar ik van geniet. Dat is het belangrijkste aspect voor mij."

"Ik ben er al sinds mijn eerste race aan verknocht. Het klinkt misschien vreemd, maar ik haal niet zoveel plezier uit het fysiek rijden met de auto. Ik doe triatlons om mezelf fysiek te testen. Racen is voor mij precies wat het zegt, racen. Ik doe het omdat ik iedereen wil verslaan. Het is simpel, ik hou van het competitie-element. Zonder competitie zou ik hier niet zijn."

Race-engineer Tom Stallard zegt over Button: "Jenson is net een zwaan. Hij is heel vloeiend met zijn handen, dat gedeelte zie je ook op televisie. Maar met zijn voeten gaat hij als een gek tekeer op de pedalen. Hij houdt de auto met zijn voeten in balans en dat gaat hem ogenschijnlijk makkelijk af. Een klassiek voorbeeld daarvan is zijn pole rondje op Spa in 2012."

Waarom zou Button er wel uit moeten en Alonso niet? Ik snap dat nooit. Alonso is 5x zo duur, maar vorig jaar eindigde hij achter Button in het kampioenschap.

Denk dat het mooi geweest is voor Button, zet Stoffel lekker in die auto, 1 miljoen per raceweekend en Fernando hetzelfde salaris, zet er vers bloed in, net wat Lauda zegt tegen de BBC: de huidige auto's zijn niet moeilijk om in te rijden is net F3, echte bikkels heb je niet meer nodig, terwijl ik Stoffel toch wel een bikkel vind.

  Wat andrik zegt zei ik laatst al.. Alonso en Button doen niet veel voor elkaar onder alleen in salaris.. Dan zou ik ook Jenson houden!
  Zet Stoffel naast Jenson en je hebt talent en ervaring daarnaast heeft Stoffel nog een mooie coach!

Button is een stuk makkelijker voor een team dan als een heethoofd alla Alonso.
Button doet voor niemand onder, maar toch vind iedereen hem een net niet.
Stuurde achter Ferrari in 2004 de BAR-Honda naar de tweede plaats in het kampioenschap bij constructeurs, tis dat Ferrari zo oppermachtig was, anders was het spannend geweest.

Om met een bij toeval superieur chassis dat de rest van het jaar nauwelijks werd doorontwikkeld wereldkampioen te worden, het had ook Vettel zijn eerste kunnen worden en het was de kans van Rubens om van de naam tweede viool af tekomen.
Is geen gelukstreffer.
Waarom naar McLaren overstappen naast Hamilton?
Waarom vertrekt Hamilton naar Mercedes? Bang voor Button?

Jenson verdiend het om nog 1 extra seizoen de meeste gp's op zijn naam te schrijven
