Massa oogt op podium

Felipe Massa oogt op een podiumfinish morgen tijdens de Grand Prix van Rusland. Hij start als vierde op de grid en het zou een 'geweldig resultaat' zijn volgens de Braziliaan.

Massa wist de vijfde snelste tijd neer te zetten tijdens de kwalificatie op zaterdag. Hij zal als vierde starten door de gridpenalty van Sebastian Vettel die zijn versnellingsbak heeft gewisseld.

Na een wat teleurstellend begin van 2016 heeft Williams ogenschijnlijk het tij gekeerd in Sotsji, met twee auto's in de top vijf. Williams heeft in Sotsji namelijk een aantal nieuwe onderdelen en upgrades toegepast op de auto.

"Ik ga voor het podium, en als het lukt zou dat natuurlijk een geweldig resultaat zijn", vertelt Massa. "Valtteri heeft een superronde gereden en daarom staat hij nu verdiend derde. Ik wist niet de volle 100 procent te geven tijdens de kwalificatie, maar de auto is competitief genoeg in de race."

De plotselinge goede vorm, waar Massa erg blij mee is, wijt hij aan het circuit en de omstandigheden. "Ik denk dat het aan het circuit ligt. De temperatuur is prima. Ook waren we sneller in de vrije trainingen. Het circuit ligt ons, dus nu is het hopen dat we deze trend door kunnen zetten tijdens de race morgen."

De laatste keer dat er een Williams-coureur op het podium eindigde was in Mexico 2015. Toen mocht Valtteri Bottas de derde trede op het podium innemen. Massa stond voor het laatst op het podium na de Grand Prix van Monza in 2015.

Het zou zomaar kunnen. Als Felipe de eerste ronde goed doorkomt en zich niet gek laat maken.

  door te roepen dat ie op het podium gaat komen geeft hij zichzelf al heel veel druk. nu starten hij en bottas ook nog aan de verkeerde kant en heeft ricciardo een auto met meer meganische grip, dus gaat dit echt niet lukken voor flipje.

Ik zie Hamilton en Vettel nog wel voorbij Massa komen en zelfs als dat niet gebeurt zie ik Massa niet zomaar voorbij Raikkonen en Bottas komen. Geef het dus niet zo heel veel kans.

Meestal zakt Williams behoorlijk terug in de race. Ik denk Rosberg op 1 gevolgd door de Ferrari,s.

  Ik geef het wel een kans voor 1 van de Williamsen hoor. Geen medium band en geen moeilijke strategie want die is denk ik voor iedereen gelijk en de snelheid is op zich best wel ok op dit circuit.

Ik denk het ook niet. Dat betekent dus dat hij langs Kimi of Bottas moet, en verder Vettel EN Hamilton achter hem te houden. Zo ver weg staan die twee ook niet

Het grootste probleem van Williams is alleen dat ze in de race veel minder sterk zijn. Ik ben benieuwd hoe ver ze gaan komen nu ze 'vrij baan' hebben. Maar ik zou er niet van staan te kijken wanneer Red Bull, Ferrari en Mercedes er met gemak voorbij hobbelen. Aan Max en Carlos om Force India en McLaren van punten af te houden.

Ik zie het wel gebeuren. Willias heeft maar 1 setje mediums voor de coureurs, als ze die band laten liggen zie ik het zomaar gebeuren.
