Magny-Cours achter de schermen druk bezig met comeback

Frankrijk staat sinds vorig jaar niet meer op de Formule 1-kalender, maar daar komt mogelijk binnenkort verandering in. De nieuwe baas van Magny-Cours wil de Grand Prix terughalen naar het Franse circuit. Circuitvoorzitter Serge Saulnier is druk bezig om de bereikbaarheid van het circuit te verbeteren.

Dat was een van de grote problemen die Bernie Ecclestone met Magny-Cours had. Saulnier zegt in Auto Hebdo: Binnenkort is het mogelijk om vanuit Parijs naar de deur van ons circuit te reizen. Als Frankrijk zijn rentree maakt op de kalender, dan kan dat alleen op Magny-Cours. De sleutel voor de terugkeer is de promotie. Het is noodzakelijk om de prijs via onderhandelingen terug te brengen naar een aanvaardbaar niveau. We weten dat de staat of de lokale overheid geen vijf of zes miljoen geven om gaten in de begroting te vullen. Als de kans op een Grand Prix bestaat, dan moet de basis redelijk zijn, net als bij Canada. We gaan daar discreet en zonder haast aan werken.
