Frijns voor Audi WRT in 24 uur van Nürburgring

Robin Frijns neemt later deze maand deel aan de 24 uur van de Nürburgring. In het weekend van 26 tot en met 29 mei verdedigt de Nederlander de eer van Audi WRT op het circuit in de Duitse Eifel. Voor dat team komt hij ook al uit in de Blancpain Series.

Frijns racete vorige week voor het eerst op de Nordschleife, de oude Nürburgring. Voor Team Prosport Performance bestuurde hij een Porsche Cayenne V5. Daarmee heeft hij toestemming verdiend om ook in de snellere raceklasses op de Nordschleife te racen.

Die regel is ingevoerd na een ongeluk met fatale gevolgen in 2015. Rookies mogen niet zomaar meer in de snelste auto's over het circuit met de toepasselijke bijnaam 'De Groene Hel' scheuren. Frijns heeft bij de 24 uurs-race Stuart Leonard, Edward Sandström en Fred Vervisch als teamgenoten.
