Force India reserveert twee testdagen voor Celis

Alfons Celis junior neemt volgende week beide dagen bij de test op het circuit van Barcelona voor zijn rekening namens Force India. De jonge Mexicaan kwam in Bahrein en Rusland al in de eerste vrije training in actie voor de Indiase renstal. Force India gunt hem in de week na de Spaanse Grand Prix meer tijd in de VJM09.

Teamdirecteur Otmar Szafnauer vertelde aan Autosport: "Alfonso is een aardige jongen die precies doet wat we hem opdragen, dat is goed. Niet elke coureur doet dat! Bovendien voorziet hij ons van goede feedback. Hij heeft een steile leercurve, hij heeft meer tijd nodig in de cockpit en dat geven we hem. Hij zal zich verbeteren, maar alleen als hij meters maakt. Formule 1-auto's zijn speciaal, de wagens in de opstapklasses komen daar niet bij in de buurt."

"Na de test in Barcelona kunnen we een betere inschatting maken hoever Alfonso kan komen. In de winter heeft hij het goed gedaan. Op een gegeven moment behoorde hij tot de middenmoot. Voor de vrijdagen bij Grands Prix hebben we hem op het hart gedrukt om voorzichtig aan te doen. Zeker bij de eerste races, aangezien elk team nu nog krap in de reserve-onderdelen zit."

Naast zijn werkzaamheden voor Force India racet Celis junior ook nog in de Formule V8 3.5 voor het team van AVF.
