Fairuz Fauzy rijdt eerste vrije training op Silverstone

Lotus F1 Racing zet test- en reserverijder Fairuz Fauzy vrijdag in de eerste vrije training voor de Britse Grand Prix in. Silverstone maakt onderdeel uit van vier races waarbij de Maleisiër dit jaar nog in actie komt. Fauzy neemt ook in Hongarije, Singapore en Abu Dhabi het stuur over van een van de vaste racecoureurs.

Fauzy: Ik wil het hele team bedanken voor deze hernieuwde kans in de auto. Ik kan niet wachten om de baan op te gaan en te zien hoeveel we vooruit zijn gegaan sinds ik in Maleisië voor het laatst met de T127 reed. Ik ben trots dat ik actief deel uit kan maken van ons ontwikkelingsprogramma. Silverstone wordt speciaal, ik woon letterlijk een paar meter van de baan vandaan en er zullen veel vrienden en familieleden komen om me aan te moedigen.

Teambaas Tony Fernandes: Het doet me deugd om Fairuz bij nog vier Grands Prix dit jaar in de auto te zetten. Hij levert elke keer als hij de baan op gaat goed werk en zijn enthousiasme en input tijdens raceweekenden maken hem een echte aanwinst voor het team. Fairuz bewijst dat met hard werk, doorzettingsvermogen en toewijding dromen uit kunnen komen.
