Williams laat geen steekjes vallen met pitstops

Het team van Williams heeft ook in Spanje de snelste pitstop afgeleverd. De Britse renstal sleepte de vijfde DHL Fastest Pit Stop Award van dit jaar in de wacht. Williams is in de pikorde iets afgegleden, maar de pitstops zijn van topniveau. Een stop van 2,12 seconden voor Felipe Massa bleek in Barcelona voldoende om opnieuw de prijs voor snelste pitcrew in de wacht te slepen.

    In de jaren '80-90 waren de pitstops van Williams over het algemeen rampzalig (vraag maar aan Nigel Mansell...)

    leuk dat ze de pitstops zo snel uitvoeren maar als je in de race 2 tot 5/10 per rondje verliest heb je er weinig aan

    Sowieso vind ik het belang van de snelheid van pitstops overschat. Die paar tienden maken echt geen verschil als je ziet waar coureurs 99 van de 100 keer op de baan terecht komen. In Williams geval heeft het al helemaal geen nut omdat ze te ver voor liggen op de teams achter hun en te ver achter op degenen voor hun.

      Ik vind het wel mee vallen. Ja als je in een groot gat valt dan maken die paar tiende niet zoveel uit, maar soms zijn die paar tienden nou juist net genoeg om voor een andere coureur op de baan te komen en dat is het belangrijkste je wilt namelijk niet net dat plekje verliezen.

      tuurlijk maakt een pitstop een verschil... Als iemand achter je zit en jij wint bijv een seconde met die pit dan haal je die winst en dat kan het verschil zijn tussen ervoor of erachter te komen

      PSV is paar jaar terug toch op doelsaldo kampioen geworden ;) Dus doelsaldo zegt meer dan deze award.
      Maar hoe sneller je stopt, hoe sneller je op de baan bent. Zoals BLAUWEVLAG al schrijft kunnen die paar tiendes echt wel uitmaken of je voor of achter iemand op de baan komt. Kimi had ze graag gehad zondag.
