Heinz-Harald Frentzen viert vandaag zijn verjaardag

Oud Formule 1-coureur Heinz-Harald Frentzen is vandaag jarig. De Duitser blaast 49 kaarsjes op zijn verjaardagstaart uit. Frentzen was tussen 1994 en 2003 actief in de Formule 1. In totaal verscheen hij 156 keer aan de start van een Grand Prix. Hij reed voor teams als Sauber, Williams, Jordan, Prost en Arrows. Op zijn erelijst in de Formule 1 staan drie overwinningen; San Marino 1997, Frankrijk 1999 en Italië 1999. De felicitaties gaan uit naar de jarige Frentzen.

    Nooit onder de indruk geweest van HHF.
    Vond hem ook 'beter' in de DTM dan in de F1.

    Binnen gebracht bij Williams als de man die Schumacher het vuur aan de schenen moest leggen. Hij had ook 'persoonlijke' redenen om Schumi op de baan te verslaan.
    Uiteindelijk afgedropen, zoals zovelen.

    Goede coureur, maar niets bijzonders.

      Schumacher en Frentz hebben elkaars partner toen der tijd toch overgenomen :)?

      Niet helemaal.
      Schumacher en Frentzen waren ongeveer tegelijkertijd 'de nieuwe sterren van Duitsland.
      Toen Schumi kampioen werd en '94 en '95 en Frentzen niet echt doordrukte pakte hij per slot van rekening ook nog Corinna af van Heinz-Harald (de Corinna waar Schumi nu nog mee getrouwd is).

      Niet echt vrienden kun je zeggen inderdaad.

      Alhoewel ik Frentzen zelf ook een kwal van een vent vind zal dat ongetwijfeld nog diep zitten bij de nederlanders na het inpikken van Jos' zitje bij Arrows begin 2002.

      Schumacher heeft Frentzen zn vrouwtje afgepakt, en op het circuit werd Frentzen ook nog eens door Schumi afgedroogd.
      Behoorde beide samen met Wendlinger tot het Mercedes talentenprogramma in de sportscars dacht ik, bij het Sauber team

      @FBW, bedoel je toen Schumi Frentzen naast de baan duwde?
      Zo was Schumi gewoon in zn goede tijd, vraag maar aan Barrichello,

    Altijd groot fan van Frentzen geweest, nu kwam de goede man natuurlijk bij ons uit de buurt (Rheydt nabij Mönchengladbach, klein half uurtje rijden vanuit Roermond), maar m.i. is Frentzen een zelfde geval als Verstappen, veel potentie, maar door omstandigheden nooit in staat geweest het echt te laten zien. Helaas telde je bij de Duitsers niet mee als je geen Schumacher heette in die tijd (iets wat Rosberg nu ook ondervindt t.o.v. Vettel, overigens), een goede reden om zelfs nu nog iedere keer als ik Kai Ebel het podium op zie komen voor interviews licht onder mijn adem te vloeken.

    Hoe dan ook, Frentzen liet bij tijd en wijle briljante zaken zien op de baan en was ook daarnaast een sympathiek figuur.

    Grappig genoeg staat Frenzen op #17 bij de lijst van F1metrics wat betreft beste rijders aller tijden, gebaseerd puur op performance ivm het materiaal en teamgenoten
