Le Mans voelt weinig voor Grand Prix-organisatie

Het circuit van Le Mans is geen optie om de Grand Prix van Frankrijk nieuw leven in te blazen. De leiding van die baan ziet geen heil in het organiseren van een Formule 1-race. De FIA heeft wel contact gezocht met Le Mans over een mogelijke Franse Grand Prix, zegt Pierre Fillon.

Fillon is de baas van Automobile Club de l'Ouest (ACO), organisator van de 24 uur van Le Mans. Hij verklaart in Le Maine Libre: "Een Formule 1-race zou ons niks opleveren. We zouden 17 tot 18 miljoen euro moeten investeren en dan moeten proberen om dat via kaartverkoop terug te verdienen. In het meest gunstige geval kun je dan break-even draaien."

Hij had ook nog een advies voor de top van autoconcern Fiat. "Ferrari blijft in de Formule 1 totdat ze weer een wereldtitel hebben gewonnen, en waarschijnlijk nog lang daarna. Het lijkt mij een uitstekend idee voor Fiat om Alfa Romeo in de endurance-racerij te positioneren", aldus Fillon.

Fiat-topman Sergio Marchionne heeft dit jaar echter al meermaals aangegeven Alfa Romeo graag in de Formule 1 te zien.

      Idd ATLAZ, het probleem in Frankrijk is dat de "gewone bevoling" de koopkracht niet meer heeft om dure F1 tickets te betalen, en in het VK ook niet meer maar daar zijn ze nog veel meer auto-gek dan in Frankrijk. Zolang Nonkel Bernie niets aan zijn tarieven doet komt daar in eeuwen geen F1-race meer...

      de aandeelhouders bepalen dat. bernie is in principe gewoon een trekpop van de groot aandeelhouders

    Wel ruimte voor flinke drs zones...
    Of de volgende inkopper: Waarom niet tegelijkertijd met de 24 uurs race? kunnen we beide tegelijk kijken zonder wat te missen.

    Alfa Romeo zou ik wel graag terug zien in de f1.

      Ze zullen voor de f1 waarschijnlijk niet de layout van de endurance series gebruiken.. Denk wellicht de Bugatti layout net als de motogp

      Nee, @Coldstream. Ze gaan helemaal geen lay-out gebruiken voor de F1.
      Ze gaan juist GEEN F1 race organiseren omdat het financieel zeer onaantrekkelijk is en enorm risicovol is om het wel te doen.

      Alfa Romeo liever in endurance of toerwagens. Daar zijn ze altijd succesvol geweest. In de moderne F1 nooit, altijd ellende gehad, en waarom zou de Fiat groep dat ook willen. Snap ik echt niet. Zo'n merk verdient het om te kunnen winnen, in de F1 gaat dat echt niet gebeuren, daarvoor wacht Ferrari al te lang op een titel. Cuore Sportiva!

    Met hoe goed FOM rekening houdt met het grootste evenement op dat circuit lijkt me niet dat er heel veel goodwill gecreëerd is.

    Wat heeft Alfa Romeo nu weer te maken met Le Mans of met endurance racing? Alfa heeft een verleden in Toerwagen DTM en F1!
    Laat die Fransen zich lekker met hun eigen merken bemoeien.
    Overigens een beetje ondernemer sluit een meerjarig contract af en dan kan je die investering toch over meerdere jaren terugverdienen.
    Als ik Le Mans was dan zou ik Renault benaderen en hier toch eens ernstig over nadenken.

      Check de historie even, Alfa Romeo heeft een lange succesvolle geschiedenis in de endurance racerij met de diverse tipo 33 varienten, varierend van v8's tot 12 cylinder boxers. Het succesvolle F1 verleden van Alfa Romeois geindigd in de jaren 50. In de jaren 70 en begin 80 niets dan ellende. Even kennis bijspijkeren Maximus, dat is het logo wel waard. Saluti Alfisti!

      Ferrari is ruim vertegenwoordigd in de GTAm- en GTPro-klasse. Maar in de LMP-klasse zou het wel mooi zijn om Audi en Porsche een nieuwe concurrent te geven.

    Kijk, dat is iemand die snapt hoe het werkt in de F1: namelijk dat iedereen er aan verdient behalve de exploitant van het circuit. Ik hoop dat ze daar in Zandvoort ook zo over gaan nadenken. Een NL Grand Prix klinkt leuk, maar kost de belastingbetaler héél véél muntjes maar levert niets op.
