Niet iedereen ontevreden over Baku

Een aantal coureurs is ontevreden over het nieuwe stratencircuit van Baku, maar niet alle geluiden zijn negatief. Veteranen als Jenson Button en Nico Rosberg hebben zich uitgelaten dat het snelle, smalle circuit mogelijk erg gevaarlijk kon zijn. Verdedigend wereldkampioen Lewis Hamilton noemt het een 'typisch zeurfestijn'. "Deze coureurs zeiken echt veel. Zo veel gezeik om zo veel verschillende dingen", bijt Hamilton Rosberg en Button toe.

Nu de strijd om het kampioenschap tussen Rosberg en Hamilton oplaait, bijt Rosberg ook terug. "Wat hij zojuist zei in de vergadering is iets heel anders dan wat ik eerst van hem hoorde, hij staat verder aan de zijkant als het om dit onderwerp gaat", zo haalt Rosberg uit.

Nico Hülkenberg is het echter niet met de kritiek eens. Volgens hem is er helemaal niet zo heel veel mis met het Baku City Circuit. "Nee, volgens mij zijn er weinig problemen met het circuit, je moet er vol voor gaan", vertelt hij. "Ik zie het zo, als een coureur de bocht te gevaarlijk vindt, remt hij maar wat meer af. Niemand houdt hem tegen, toch?"

Er waren wel wat problemen met het circuit. Tijdens de GP2-kwalificatie waren er kerbstones die loslieten en flink wat schade aanrichtten aan de banden. De coureurs vinden het echter wel een mooi circuit.

"Toen ik met het originele plan voor het circuit kwam, verklaarden ze me voor gek", zei Bernie Ecclestone. "Het proberen om de oude en nieuwe delen van de stad te combineren in één circuit was een hele opgave, maar als ik nu zie hoe het eruit ziet lijkt het erop dat we het prima hebben gedaan."

Het zal vast een mooie race opleveren maar of dit gepaard gaat met fraaie inhaal acties weet ik nog zo net niet. Het word misschien wel eens een tombola met sc en vsc en een verrassende winnaar

Afgezien van het feit dat ik vind dat coureurs niet moeten zeiken over dit soort circuits wat betreft veiligheid, je bent verdomme coureur. Je mag ook mijn baan op het kantoor wel hebben, ik ruil wel. Dan over de baan als layout: die is gewoon ronduit k*t. Rechte stuk is ongeveer 17 kilometer? Het smalste deel van de baan is zo smal dat de gemiddelde Obese-deelnemer er zijwaarts doorheen moet en de bochten zijn over het algemeen getekend met behulp van een geodriehoek. Nee dank, ik pas. Oh en pluspunt! Leuk dat er zoveel publiek zit. O nee, ook dat niet.

  Misschien ff de GP2 race bekijken? Was zeer vermakelijk op dit circuit, en genoeg inhaal mogelijkheden.

  De baan is compleet anders dan we nu hebben dat maakt het voor mij juist leuk voor de afwisseling. Rechte stuk is misschien wat lang maar voor de rest mooie banen waar een coureur nog echt het verschil kan maken was vandaag wel te zien.

Ik vind het een raar circuit, maar wie weet biedt het wel een spektakelstuk op morgen. Met een paar safety cars en crashes zou er wat kleur toegevoegd worden.
