Force India verschuift meeste aandacht naar 2017

Het team van Force India heeft besloten om het merendeel van de middelen vanaf nu aan te wenden voor de auto voor 2017. De Indiase renstal stond dit seizoen al twee keer op het podium en de focus voor de rest van het jaar is om alles uit het huidige pakket te halen. In 2017 worden radicaal nieuwe regels van kracht en Force India wil zich daar gedegen op voorbereiden.

Vice-teambaas Bob Fernley verkondigde aan Autosport: "Zoals alle teams zijn ook wij al bezig met de transitie richting volgend jaar, al zie ik ons niet veel energie en middelen meer in de huidige auto steken. We kunnen er via verbeteringen aan de set-up nog meer uit persen. De omschakeling naar 2017 is min of meer al gemaakt. De nieuwe reglementen voor volgend jaar bieden een geweldig ontwerpteam als het onze een grote kans op een sprong voorwaarts."

Force India stelt zich voor dit jaar een top vijf-notering bij de constructeurs ten doel. "We hebben onszelf in Bakoe een goede dienst bewezen en dat Toro Rosso niet scoorde was ook een prettige bijkomstigheid. We gaan nu proberen Williams op te jagen, terwijl we ook over onze schouders naar achteren kijken. De vijfde plaats is belangrijk voor ons. Als we de kans krijgen om Williams voorbij te steken, zullen we dat zeker niet nalaten. Maar zolang we ons op een vijfde plek weten te handhaven is het een goed seizoen voor ons."

De 5e plek is redelijk safe, de 4e plek wordt wel erg moeilijk aangezien Williams niet veel slechter is.

Waar zijn de criticasters nu die zeiden dat Force India dit jaar nergens was? Het is vaak zo dat ze gedurende een seizoen serieuze stappen maken, ook dit jaar weer en ik ben er blij mee. Bli... [Lees verder]

Zeer verstandig met een beperkt budget kun je ook maar het beste al vooruit plannen naar 2017...

  inderdaad voor een team als het hunne kiezen of delen. Kan aan het eind van het seizoen voordelig zijn voor RB die wel de middelen hebben om de huidige auto te blijven ontwikkelen.

  @Damon Hill: helemaal eens en dit is een smart move van ze. Zeker als je niet zeker bent of je PER en HUL allebei kunt houden komend seizoen, wil je auto's qua chassis en PU optimaal kunnen voorbereiden. Met name PER zorgt voor flinke punten en podia: sjappoo!! Ook de druk op Mallya en hoe die daar mee omgaat vind ik bewonderenswaardig.

Ik zie ze eerder 4e worden dan 6e in ieder geval.. Bij Williams en Toro Rosso zal het niet anders zijn dat ze de focus op 2017 moeten zetten
