Arrivabene: "We hebben een snelle, maar gevoelige auto"

Maurizio Arrivabene, de teambaas van Ferrari, vindt dat zijn team op het gebied van snelheid prima bezig is. Het zijn echter de kleine updates waar de auto, zoals de flamboyante Italiaan zegt, moeite mee heeft.

"Er is een gat met Mercedes, maar dat is in principe niet zo heel groot", vertelt hij tegen motorsport-total.com. Arrivabene wil het daarom ook nog niet hebben over volgend jaar. Volgens hem heeft de SF16-H nog potentieel, kijkende naar het lange seizoen dat 21 races telt.

In het anderhalve jaar waarin Mercedes de motorendivisie volledig domineerde als het ging om het leveren van power, wist Ferrari haar powerunit dusdanig goed door te ontwikkelen dat de achterstand in totale PK's ongeveer 10 pk verschilt van de Mercedes-motor. Niet alleen het maximale vermogen is toegenomen, de Italianen hebben ook vooruitgang geboekt op het gebied van ERS.

Die vooruitgang was echter niet altijd te zien, Ferrari wijst daarvoor naar Pirelli. Het schijnen banden te zijn waar de Italiaanse renstal toch nog moeite mee heeft.

"We proberen ons te focussen op de punten die het meeste aandacht nodig hebben", vertelt Arrivabene. "We hebben al gezien wat dat ons kan opleveren in Canada, maar we moeten toch nog aan de slag. De auto reageert gevoelig op kleine veranderingen in de setup, dus daar moeten we aan werken."

"In Bakoe hebben we vooruitgang geboekt, maar het is nog niet genoeg", voegt hij toe.

Ze kunnen de PK's meten met een decibel meter naast het circuit geloof ik, dit is niet super nauwkeurig, maar nauwkeurig genoeg om een schatting te maken.

Ferrari is over het geheel genomen het 2 e team van de startgrid, soms zal er een circuit zijn wat ze minder ligt, maar dat zijn er niet zoveel, RB en Williams zijn 1 pot nat, RB een betere auto en Williams een betere motor, Renault moet gewoon nog iets beter hun best doen wil RB het ze keer op keer lastig maken.

Als ze die gevoeligheid eruit kunnen werken denk ik dat ze prima tegenstand kunnen gaan bieden aan Mercedes. Je ziet Kimi en Vettel nu net iets te veel corrigeren.

en toch zie ik rb het gat eerder dichten . heb ff helemaal geen vertrouwen in ferrari te veel italianen aan de leiding .en zolang die grote dwaas ( marcha noch iets ) maar blijft roepen dat ferrari moet winnen en druk erop blijft leggen zie ik het niet gebeuren .

  En Pirelli is ook nog eens Italiaans. Dus dat is bij elkaar wel heel veel italiaans. Kan niet goed gaan. Maar zonder gekheid...wijzen naar een ander. RB had in Baku ook problemen met de banden, ligt in eerste instantie aan de auto.

  serieus genomen worden maakt mijn niet uit . geef mijn mening en het boeit me niet wat er een ander van vind . en ach ik weet iemands naam niet , heb jij zeker nooit last van . ik had het kunnen googlen maar geen zin in .

  En weet iemand hoe de Renault motor ivm Mercedes scoort op pk-gebied, even zonder ERS?

PK's meten met een decibel meter , leg eens uit hoe dat werkt, want een decibel meter is voor het geluid.
