Investeringsgroep wil schulden Sauber wegpoetsen

Een internationaal consortium van investeerders staat op het punt om Sauber de helpende hand te bieden. Auto Motor und Sport bericht dat een investeringsgroep een meerderheidsbelang in de Zwitserse renstal wil bemachtigen. Daarmee zou een einde komen aan een onzekere periode voor Sauber.

Het team kon woensdag de salarissen over mei en juni overmaken naar het personeel. Daarnaast informeerde Sauber de werknemers dat de redding nabij is. Over de identiteit van de investeerders is nog weinig bekend, behalve dat het om een internationale verzameling aan geldschieters zou gaan.

De investeringsgroep wil een meerderheid van de aandelen in Sauber overnemen om vervolgens de schulden weg te poetsen en een frisse start te maken. In eerste instantie blijft de huidige teamleiding zitten voor een overgangsperiode, maar langzaam maar zeker zullen de investeerders hun eigen mensen naar voren schuiven.

Het consortium zou ook bij andere Formule 1-teams op de deur geklopt hebben, maar ze hebben de conclusie getrokken dat de bestaande infrastructuur bij Sauber de beste omgeving biedt om in te stappen. Het team hoopt het reddingsplan rond de Hongaarse Grand Prix te formaliseren.

    Men heeft de conclusie getrokken dat de bestaande infrastructuur bij Sauber de beste omgeving biedt om in te stappen: m.a.w Sauber zit het diepst in de shit.

      Er is wel degelijk iets te zeggen voor de argumenten. Sauber is een team met veel historie, goede faciliteiten (mede dankzij de BMW tijd), en ervaren medewerkers. Zeker niet het slechtste team om in te investeren. Zou zelf in ieder geval eerder voor Sauber kiezen dan voor een Manor bijvoorbeeld. En om zaken te doen met Mallya is ook weer zoiets.
