Red Bull en Aston Martin presenteren 'hypercar'

De samenwerking tussen Red Bull en Aston Martin heeft geresulteerd in de AM-RB 001, een hypercar van de hand van Adrian Newey. De ontwerper mocht zich uitleven op de auto en heeft dat ook gedaan. De bolide heeft een V12-motor en een 1:1 vermogen-tot-gewicht ratio. Dat wil zeggen dat het aantal pk's gelijk staat aan het aantal kilo's.

Newey: "Ik heb lang de wens gekoesterd om een auto voor op de weg te ontwerpen. De totstandkoming van Red Bull Advanced Technologies was een stap in de richting van de realisatie van die ambitie, maar we hadden nog een alliantie met een autofabrikant nodig. Aston Marton stond bovenaan mijn verlanglijstje."

"Ik heb altijd gestreefd naar een wagen voor de weg die tegelijkertijd ook in staat was tot extreme prestaties op het circuit. Daardoor is het een auto met twee karakters geworden. Dat is het geheim dat we in deze bolide gestopt hebben. De technologie om rustgevend en comfortabel te zijn, maar ook een wagen met uitzonderlijke capaciteiten."

Aston Martin zal 175 exemplaren van de AM-RB 001 vervaardigen. De prijs zal tussen de 2 en 3 miljoen pond komen te liggen. Al 300 geïnteresseerden zouden zich gemeld hebben. Een aanbetaling van 500.000 pond is vereist. De levering van de auto wordt verwacht in 2018.

  Ik vind 'm echt mega cool... Zo zie je maar dat smaken verschillen. Ik ga er sowieso van uit dat bij deze auto de looks ondergeschikt zijn aan e technische aspecten.

Dit ding is voor pure snelheid zo vormgegeven, lelijk of niet is uw keuze.. zelf zou ik hem/haar niet aanschaffen voor dat geld, maar als je zo'n ding in je winkelstraat ziet staan ga je toch kijken..;)
