Podium in Britse GP hoog op verlanglijst Button

McLaren-coureur Jenson Button zou dolgraag eens op het podium eindigen in de Grand Prix van Groot-Brittannië. Op het ereschavot belanden in zijn thuisrace is de Brit in al die jaren Formule 1 nog niet gelukt. De wereldkampioen van 2009 is realistisch genoeg om te beseffen dat het er dit jaar waarschijnlijk weer niet in zit, maar het staat hoog op zijn verlanglijstje.

Button: "Op het podium finishen in de Britse Grand Prix staat bovenaan het lijstje met dingen die ik nog wil doen in de Formule 1. Ik heb ongeveer alles wel bereikt wat ik wilde bereiken, maar ik heb nog nooit op het podium gestaan in Silverstone. Het is iets waar ik echt mijn zinnen op heb gezet, het zou als een overwinning aanvoelen als het me lukt."

"Het goede resultaat in Oostenrijk heeft iedereen binnen McLaren-Honda gemotiveerd. Het schept ook hogere verwachtingen. Ik zou nu kunnen beweren dat een podium komend weekend binnen handbereik ligt, maar dat is onrealistisch. We boeken in elk geval progressie en dat is bemoedigend. En als er wat extra variabelen meespelen en de teams moeten improviseren, zijn we tot mooie dingen in staat."

Button sleepte op de Red Bull Ring een zesde plaats in de wacht, zijn beste resultaat van het seizoen tot dusver.

    HAM/VET/RAI/RIC botsen. ROS heeft ditmaal KERS problemen heeft te weinig vermogen.
    VES/BUT/ALO podium (vergeten we even williams en force india, kon even niets verzinnen wat er daarmee zou gebeuren.......)

      Williams heeft last van overmatige bandenslijtage. Perez knalt tijdens kwalificatie van de baan en beschadigd zijn auto dermate dat hij vanuit de pitstraat moet starten terwijl hulkenberg slachtoffer word van een paar slechte strategische keuze's van het team.

    Die goeie ouwe Jens, een van mijn favorieten gun ik dit van harte.
    Maar dan doe ik aan wishfull thinking, dus mocht hij zich net als op Red Bull ring zo te qualificeren zal het zondag regenen en houden Ham én Ros zich niet aan de afspraken.. moeten bottas , Verstappen, Riccardo enz pech hebben haalt ie t podium.. Als zijn Honda heel blijft is ook een vereiste, maar dat hoef ik er niet bij te vermelden;)
