Pirelli prikt datums voor tests met 2017-banden

Bandenleverancier Pirelli heeft geopenbaard hoe de voorbereiding op het seizoen 2017 er de komende maanden uit zal zien. De Italiaanse bandenfabrikant slaat de handen ineen met Ferrari, Red Bull Racing en Mercedes om de banden voor 2017 te testen. In totaal gaat het om 24 testdagen tussen nu en het einde van dit jaar.

De eerste test vindt op 1 en 2 augustus plaats op het circuit van Fiorano. Het betreft een regenbanden test met Ferrari. Op 3 en 4 augustus testen Pirelli en Red Bull Racing slicks op het circuit van Mugello. 6 en 7 september is het weer de beurt aan Ferrari voor een test met slicks op het circuit van Barcelona. Tegelijkertijd voltrekt de eerste kennismaking van Mercedes met de banden voor 2017 op 6, 7 en 8 september op het circuit van Paul Ricard.

21 en 22 september en 12 en 13 oktober test Mercedes weer met Pirelli, respectievelijk op Paul Ricard en op Barcelona. De overige vier tests vinden alle plaats in Abu Dhabi. Eerst op 14, 15 en 16 oktober met Red Bull Racing, op 2 en 3 november opnieuw met Red Bull Racing, vervolgens op 14, 15 en 16 november met Ferrari en tot slot vanaf 29 november drie dagen met alle drie de teams.

Mercedes, Ferrari en Red Bull Racing leveren een aan 2017 aangepaste 2015-bolide. Voordat het zover is mag Pirelli ook al banden testen met auto's uit 2012, 2013 en 2014. Dat gebeurt volgende week op Silverstone voor het eerst (Mercedes). 16 juli is het de beurt aan Ferrari op Fiorano en Red Bull Racing test op 18 en 19 juli op Vallelunga. Het raakvlak van de voorbanden neemt voor volgend jaar met 60 millimeter toe en voor de achterbanden met 80 millimeter. De teams zijn verplicht om alle data beschikbaar te stellen aan de overige renstallen.

Dus Red Bull, Ferrari en Mercedes kunnen alvast meerdere dagen testen met een 2015-auto die is aangepast aan de 2017 regels en zo belangrijke data verzamelen?

Ik snap niet dat de andere teams dit zomaar goed vinden.

  Volgens mij is het niet zozeer een kwestie van goed vinden, maar waren Red Bull Racing, Ferrari en Mercedes de enige teams die in staat bleken om gehoor te geven aan de wens van Pirelli voor een 2015-auto aangepast aan de downforce-levels voor 2017

  Ik geloof er niet in dat data universeel uitwisselbaar is tussen de verschillende teams. Daarmee denk ik dat de teams die daadwerkelijk testen en de data op hun 2015 naar 2017 specs omgezette auto's direct data hebben die ze kunnen meenemen bij de ontwikkeling van de nieuwe auto.

  @Mick34; wat denk je dat het kost om een 2015 auto aan te passen aan 2017 regels? Daar moet je ook budget en tijd voor vrij kunnen maken hé... Zo kan ik me voorstellen dat McLaren ook graag had meegedaan, maar dat die wel iets anders aan hun hoofd hebben en simpelweg niet de tijd hebben om mee te doen.
  Bovendien is een 2017 auto op zeker een klap anders als een 2015 auto die wat is aangepast. De data die opgehaald wordt zal deze 3 teams niet (heel veel meer) helpen als de overige teams die de data mogen inzien.
