Manor acht herhaling Oostenrijk niet haalbaar op Silverstone

Het team van Manor pakte met Pascal Wehrlein een punt tijdens de Grand Prix van Oostenrijk vorige week. Een succes dat als een overwinning werd gevierd door de kleine Britse renstal. Manor verwacht dat het in Silverstone bijzonder lastig wordt het succes van Oostenrijk te herhalen.

De auto van Manor, de MRT05, staat erom bekend agressief met de banden om te gaan. Op de eerste dag in Silverstone reed Wehrlein een zeventiende tijd, teamgenoot Haryanto eindigde op plaats eenentwintig. Wehrlein laat het volgende weten: "In Oostenrijk hadden we banden goed onder controle, hier lijkt de bandenslijtage weer net zo hoog te zijn als in de races voor Oostenrijk. Toch denk ik dat we Renault en Sauber zouden moeten kunnen uitdagen."

Rio Haryanto wacht nog op zijn eerste punt in de Formule 1. De Indonesiër laat het volgende weten na een dag trainen op Silverstone: "In de eerste training was de auto goed. Tussen de trainingen veranderden we het een en ander en dat was niet de juiste keuze. We weten nu dat de afstelling van de eerste training de juiste is. Ik denk dat we de strijd aan kunnen met onze concurrenten hier."
