Josef Newgarden heeft de IndyCar-race in Iowa op zijn naam geschreven. De Amerikaan was heer en meester op de korte oval in Newton. Het was aan neutralisaties te danken dat Newgarden niet het hele veld op een rondje achterstand zette. Hij deelde het podium met Will Power en Scott Dixon.
