Hulkenberg denkt dat Force India competitief blijft met huidige auto

Force India heeft de aandacht van het team verschoven naar de 2017-auto. Desondanks denkt Nico Hulkenberg dat het team competitief kan blijven met de huidige auto.

Net als enkele rivalen heeft Force India besloten besloten om de aandacht vroeg te verschuiven naar 2017. Voor de huidige auto zullen daardoor weinig nieuwe updates komen, maar Hulkenberg is tevreden. "We zijn zo blij als het kan. Er zijn nog dingen die we moeten verbeteren en aan moeten werken, en dat wordt moeilijk. Omdat de ontwikkeling van de auto gestopt is, zullen we elk weekend er het beste van moeten maken."

De Duitser is vol vertrouwen dat het pakket van Force India goed werkt op de Hungaroring. "De auto zou hier goed moeten gaan, met veel bochten en een lage snelheid. Vorig jaar ging het goed totdat mijn voorvleugel afbrak. Dit jaar komen we ongeveer dezelfde auto en een betere voorvleugel, dus hopelijk kunnen we in de punten eindigen."

Over de Britse Grand Prix is Hulkenberg behoorlijk teleurgesteld, ondanks een keurige zevende plaats. "We zitten dichterbij Williams en voor Toro Rosso, maar er zat nog meer in de auto en het had kunnen uitmonden in een betere finish dan nu. Op de intermediates zat ik klem achter Felipe Massa, waar ik niet voorbijkwam en dus veel tijd verloor. Ook de virtual safety car speelde niet in mijn voordeel, waardoor veel mensen voor mij terecht kwamen."

Mwah, ik moet het nog zien. Ik denk dat kapitaalkrachtigere teams weliswaar eveneens hun focus verlegd hebben, maar nog steeds met degelijke updates kunnen komen, en dus Force India bij kunnen halen. Dit is niet de eerste keer dat FI het zo goed doet in de beginfase.

Het is al zeer knap wat FI weet neer te zetten, maar je ziet het ook aan de sponsoring; uiteindelijk is het niet meer dan middenmoot en zie je gewoon dat het een klein team is met navenante capaciteiten.

Alles aan mensen dat wel wat waard is, wordt gewoon weggekocht door de grote teams.
