'Bottas wil graag bij Williams blijven in 2017'

Valtteri Bottas vindt dat hij nog 'werk af te maken heeft' bij Williams en zou daarom zichzelf willen committeren aan een nieuw seizoen bij het Britse team.

Voor het tweede jaar op rij is Bottas gelinkt aan een stoeltje bij Ferrari, maar wederom kreeg Kimi Raikkonen de voorkeur boven zijn landgenoot. Met weinig goede opties vrij lijkt Bottas af te stevenen op een vijfde seizoen bij Williams. Manager Didier Coton vertelde het volgende aan Autosport. "Valtteri is vanaf het begin van het seizoen heel open geweest over zijn wens om bij Williams te blijven. Hij heeft veel vertrouwen in hoe het team met de regelwijzigingen voor 2017 zal omgaan."

"Daarnaast is het verhaal tussen deze twee nog niet compleet, en dat wil hij graag afmaken. Valtteri is in de Formule 1 om te winnen, net zoals het team, en ze werken beide hard om dat te bereiken. Het team heeft veel potentieel, en in de afgelopen twee jaar hebben ze laten zien wat ze daarmee kunnen. En als ik naar Valtteri's toewijding naar het team kijk, moeten ze blij zijn met hem."

Recentelijk werd bekend dat Bottas meer de touwtjes in handen neemt bij de onderhandelingen van zijn contract. Zijn managementteam trekt zijn handen echter niet van hem af. Coton: "Hij neemt nu zelf de leiding, maar we staan altijd klaar voor hem met advies en steun. Er is geen haast om een contract voor 2017 te tekenen, dus ik weet niet wanneer het precies gaat gebeuren."

Had bottas wel iets meer moeten laten zien. Ik zag frank yoch een aantal keer zen haren uit t hoofd trekken

  Er is weinig andere keus voor hem inderdaad. Dat heeft hij zeker aan zichzelf te danken. Geroemd en genoemd als een toekomstig wereldkampioen, maar heeft zelden wat laten zien dat die roem ook terecht is. Beetje een kleurloos figuur wiens carriere uitgaag als een nachtkaars à la Heidfeld en Hulkenberg.

Er is geen plek bij Ferrari en ik vind hem ook niet goed genoeg, en ik denk dat hij al aanvoelt dat als hij bij Williams moet blijven, want zoveel plek is er niet meer bij een redelijk team.

Nee die Williams is een goede auto, dat zal hem helpen, die auto word alleen maar slechter maar hij moet er wel in presteren?
Op een natte baan is de Williams kansloos.

Bottas is niet meer dan aardige veldvulling. Over 20 jaar weet echt niemand meer wie hij was. Zal totaal in de vergetelheid raken.

Natuurlijk wil Bottas blijven. Betere opties heeft hij niet. Zijn momentum is reeds voorbij.

Ik snap bottas wel omdat er voor 2017 geen betere optie voor hem is dan williams. RBR, ferrari en zeer waarschijnlijk mercedes zitten voor 2017 vol en aangezien williams nu het 4e team is zou ik daar ook blijven.
