Lynn: "Test kunnen we ook afstrepen"

Williams-protegé Alex Lynn denkt dat hij klaar is voor een entree in de Formule 1. Na een succesvolle test op Silverstone staat hij klaar voor het team van Williams in 2017, mocht dat nodig zijn.

De Brit, die momenteel in de GP2 rijdt, begon met testen nadat Felipe Massa en Valtteri Bottas zonder punten de Grand Prix van Engeland afsloten. Na een aantal productieve ronden was het de beurt aan Bottas. "Het was erg productief", vertelt de Lynn. "Ik heb goede ronden gereden, data verzameld voor het team en het is natuurlijk altijd leuk om rondjes te rijden op Silverstone."

Hoewel er geruchten zijn dat Jenson Button terug zal keren bij de formatie uit Grove, waar hij in eerste instantie zijn debuut kreeg, denkt Lynn dat hij wordt overwogen voor een stoeltje voor volgend jaar. Hoogstwaarschijnlijk naast Bottas. "Ik heb al kenbaar gemaakt dat ik er klaar voor ben", vertelt de Brit. "Deze test was alleen maar een extra puntje in mijn 'ervaringsboek', ik heb de dag zonder problemen voltooid en ik was best competitief."

Na een slecht weekend in de GP2, weet Lynn ook dat hij zich moet focussen op de titelstrijd in zijn eigen klasse. Op het moment ligt de Brit negende, met 28 punten achterstand op de nummer 1. Om indruk te maken zal hij moeten stijgen in het kampioenschap.

"Om eerlijk te zijn moet ik doorgaan met knokken in de GP2, niet moeilijk doen er ervoor gaan", voegt Lynn toe.

  Denk Massa en hoop Guitierrez. Van de bovenstaande rijders verdient Vandoorne echt wel eens stoeltje, zoveel talent en nog steeds langs de kant staan

  Hoe vaak is het voor een rijder als Maldonado gebeurt, dat ie met een jaar er tusen uit toch nog terug komt in de F1. Persoonlijk vind ik zn rijstijl te gevaarlijk en brengt ie niet alleen zich zelf in gevaar maar ook de rest. Hij is begin 30, maar geen podium kandidaat (op die ene keer in spanje na)

Is logisch ja toch dat is hun doel, rijden in F1 auto, over een 4 maanden zal er meer zekerheid zijn, ik verwacht bij de top teams geen nieuwe rijders.

  Ferrari en redbull hebben hun rijders al gecontracteerd. Hamilton heeft bij mercedes een contract tot 2018 geloof ik. Alleen rosberg moet nog officieel bevestigd worden, maar dat is een kwestie van tijd. Dus idd, bij de top kan hij het zowieso wel vergeten.
