Sauber: "Nieuwe eigenaren rechtvaardigen aankoop in 2010

Na maanden speculatie is Sauber gisteren overgenomen door Longbow Finance. De overname toon volgens oprichter Peter Sauber aan dat het een juiste keuze was om in 2010 het team over te nemen.

In 1993 kwam Sauber met zijn eigen team de Formule 1 binnen, nadat het daarvoor jaren in de lange-afstandsracerij actief was. In 2006 ging het team over in BMW-Sauber, maar in 2010 kocht oprichter Sauber zijn eigen team weer terug. Tegen F1i.com zei Sauber: "Monisha Kaltenborn en ik hebben een overeenkomst getekend waarmee de toekomst van Sauber verzekerd is."

"Ik ben blij dat mijn investering om het team terug te kopen in 2010, met de intentie om de plaats in de Formule 1 en de basis in Hinwil te behouden, zich nu terugbetaalt met de overname." Sauber zal door de overname met pensioen gaan. Longbow Finance's CEO Pascal Picci zal hem opvolgen aan het hoofd van het bedrijf.

      Een financiële man aan het hoofd zal in ieder geval geen miljoenen verspillen door het contracteren van meer rijders dan er stoeltjes zijn.

      Zijn 1e goede beslissing zou zijn om Kaltenborn bij het grof vuil te zetten, of chemisch afval, je moet daar waarschijnlijk wel wat extra's voor betalen maar op korte termijn levert dat geld op.

      Wie niet? Wat doe je in een organisatie als je niet de juiste intenties hebt? Alleen als je concreet sabotage voor ogen hebt (en dus in het belang van een andere organisatie werkt), is dit niet zo.

      .. Je kunt nog bijvoorbeeld het team kopen om winst o.i.d. te maken maar Peter Sauber kocht het uit liefde voor het team en de sport..

      Geld verdienen in de F1. Dat is voor weinigen weggelegd, en zeker niet voor de privéteams. Niet in de mate dat de mensen die het vermogen hebben dit te doen, niet veel betere investeringen kunnen doen.

    Als ik een F1-team had, zou ik hem als adviseur inhuren. Of als commentator/analist als ik een TV-zender had. Toch jammer als zoveel kennis en ervaring thuis op de bank moet zitten.

      Denk niet dat hij op die leeftijd daar nog trek in heeft. Dit is ook de reden dat hij al jaren geleden de dagelijkse leiding opgegeven heeft.
