Raikkonen: "Ik verwacht dat we in de buurt staan"

Nadat Ferrari een lastig weekend kende bij de Grand Prix van Engeland, waarbij Kimi Raikkonen de beste Ferrari was op een zesde plaats, verwacht de Fin dat hij en Sebastian Vettel dit weekend in de buurt van de Mercedessen kunnen staan.

Toch kan er pas op vrijdag een zinnig woord gezegd worden over de vorm van Ferrari, zo denkt Raikkonen. "Het hele seizoen is tot nu toe met ups en downs gegaan, op verschillende circuits met verschillende omstandigheden. Ik weet zeker dat het dit weekend beter zal gaan dan in Silverstone. Is dat genoeg? Dat weet ik niet, ik verwacht ons in de buurt van de top maar na vandaag krijgen we pas een grof geschetst beeld van de verhoudingen."

Voor een zege zullen echter wel alle puzzelstukjes op de juiste plaats moeten vallen volgens de 36-jarige veteraan. "Onze auto is wel beter dan aan het begin van het seizoen, maar nog steeds niet genoeg. Op sommige circuits staan we echt dichtbij, maar op andere circuits niet. Ik denk dat we ons kunnen verbeteren en races kunnen winnen, maar dat zal niet binnen een week het geval zijn."

De doelen van Ferrari zijn helder: races winnen en vechten voor het kampioenschap. Voorlopig komt men daar in Maranello nog niet aan toe. "Het kampioenschap is nog niet beslist, maar we moeten realistisch zijn. We moeten nu races gaan winnen en onze rivalen gaan verslaan. Er zijn nog veel races te gaan, dus we kunnen de huidige stand van zaken nog veranderen en we zullen daarvoor tot het einde vechten."

Ik denk dat Kimi de verkeerde kant op kijkt. RBR staat maar 6 punten achter Ferrari ze en ze gaan nu op de Hungaroring rijden. Het lijkt me dus waarschijnlijker dat Ferrari de 2de plek dit weekend gaat verliezen.
