Haryanto in orde na crash, Wehrlein kan niet stunten op natte baan

Het lukte Manor-coureurs Rio Haryanto en Pascal Wehrlein niet om voor een stunt te zorgen in de Hongaarse kwalificatie. Op de natte baan maakte Haryanto een flinke klap en zorgde daarmee voor een rode vlag, terwijl Pascal Wehrlein het de heren van Sauber en Renault niet moeilijk kon maken.

Wehrlein laat via de persafdeling van Manor het volgende weten: "De regen kwam voor iedereen als een verrassing, vooral de enorme hoeveelheid in zo een korte tijd. Er waren veel rode vlaggen in Q1, iets wat bijna nooit voorkomt. Het maakte het voor iedereen lastig. In mijn laatste run was ik even snel als Kimi Raikkonen, maar verloor ik die ronde door weer een rode vlag. Jammer dat het ons niet lukte om Q2 te halen."

Rio Haryanto is vooral dat hij ongeschonden uit kon stappen na een flinke klap in de tiende bocht: "Bij de hervatting na de rode vlag pushte ik te hard omdat er nog weinig tijd was en ik nog geen goede tijd had staan. Het was een flinke klap, maar ik voel me helemaal in orde. De auto is flink beschadigd en het spijt me dat ik de monteurs een nacht werk heb bezorgd."
