Het is vandaag 26 juli en dat betekent dat Emilio de Villota vandaag zijn verjaardag viert. Ook Teddy Pilette mag vandaag een feestje vieren.

Tussen 1976 en 1982 reed De Villota 15 races in de Formule 1. Dat deed hij vaak in auto's die niet door een fabrieksteam ingezet werden. Punten scoorde de Spanjaard niet in de Formule 1, maar op Le Mans was hij wel iets succesvoller. In 1981 behaalde hij een derde plaats bij de 24 uur van Le Mans. Een aantal jaren geleden was dochter Maria een tijdje testcoureur bij Marussia, maar een jaar na een zwaar ongeluk waarbij ze een oog verloor, overleed ze. De Villota wordt vandaag zeventig jaren oud.

Ook Teddy Pilette is een voormalig Formule 1-coureur. De Belg probeerde zich in 1974 vier keer te kwalificeren voor een Grand Prix, maar dit lukte hem slechts een keer. In 1978 won Pilette wel de 24 uur van Spa Francorchamps. Vandaag mag Pilette 74 kaarsjes uitblazen.
