Bryan Clauson bezweken aan zijn verwondingen

Bryan Clauson is overleden. De verwondingen die hij gisteren bij een crash in een midget race in Belleville opliep zijn hem fataal geworden. Clauson was een ster in het Midget National-kampioenschap. Hij was regerend kampioen en had woensdag nog zijn 27ste zege geboekt.

Clauson stond drie maal aan de start van de Indy 500. IndyCar-directeur Mark Miles: "Het is een trieste dag voor de autosport. Namens de IndyCar Series en de Indianapolis Motor Speedway sturen we onze welgemeende condoleances naar de familie van Bryan. Hij zal voortleven als legende in het racen op korte circuits en zijn Indy 500-starts waren een bewijs van zijn onbevreesde karakter."

Clauson werd slechts 27 jaar oud.
