Maleisië lanceert nieuw concept voor Grand Prix

De Grand Prix van Maleisië neemt sinds dit jaar een nieuw plekje op de Formule 1-kalender in. Voorheen stond de race op Sepang altijd aan het begin van het seizoen op het programma, maar het evenement is verplaatst naar de tweede seizoenshelft. Om dat luister bij te zetten heeft de organisatie het concept 'Experience RedeF1ned' gelanceerd.

Sepang-directeur Razlan Razali: "Er zijn veel nieuwe dingen waar de Formule 1-fans naar uit kunnen kijken wanneer ze onze Grand Prix dit jaar bezoeken. Naast alle actie op de baan kunnen bezoekers zich ook verheugen op een reeks aan activiteiten voor het hele familie. Fans kunnen alle elementen die de Formule 1 zo opwindend maken op een nieuwe manier beleven."

"We willen families aanmoedigen om voor een weekendje weg naar de Formule 1 te kiezen en een nieuwe generatie Formule 1-fans aanboren. Echter, ongeacht met wie je komt, elke bezoeker wordt op zijn wenken bediend. Er is voor ieder wat wils; of je nou dicht in de buurt van de rijders wil komen, meer van comfort houdt of toch het beste zicht op het concert na de Grand Prix wil, we hebben pakketten en kaarten voor iedereen."

    Tilke krijgt vaak kritiek maar dit is een hele mooie. Jammer dat ze niet meer naar Istanbulpark gaan want dat vind ik zijn beste ontwerp.

      Ja, prachtige baan! Zo jammer dat ze daar niet meer racen. Misschien kunnen ze een exacte kopie op de Tweede Maasvlakte bouwen! Des noods gespiegeld.

    Valentino Rossi had laatst in een interview een mooie opmerking over circuits van vroeger en nu. "Tegenwoordig zie je te goed dat circuits op de computer zijn ontworpen, terwijl oudere banen veel meer de glooiing van het landschap vormen." In Istanbul is wss ook een computer bij het ontwerp gebruikt, maar door dat het landschap glooide is die baan veel beter gelukt dan vele andere nieuw ontworpen circuits. Portimao vind ik ook geweldig, snap totaal niet waarom de WTCC nu dat speelgoedbaantje in Vila Real kiest boven dat complex

      Inderdaad: de Grand Prix in Maleisië onderscheid zich in NIETS van alle andere races. We krijgen niet ineens een reversed grid, ze gaan niet halverwege de race ineens allemaal de andere kant oprijden en de race duurt ook niet ineens vier uur of maar drie kwartier.

      Met andere woorden: er is gewoon helemaal niets anders dan anders. Hooguit de flauwekul erom heen, die weinig tot niets met de F1 te maken heeft. Kortom: gebakken lucht!

    Een van de problemen van de F1 zie je hier op die foto. Je zit zo godsgruwelijk ver van de baan dat je amper ziet wie er voorbij flitst.
