FIA sluit combinatie van Halo en Aeroscreen uit

De internationale autosportbond FIA is vastberaden om in de nabije toekomst een systeem te introduceren om de hoofden van rijders in eenzitter-klasses beter te beschermen. Twee concepten zijn dit jaar boven komen drijven, namelijk de 'Halo' en het 'Aeroscreen'. Beide systemen zijn nog niet rijp genoeg voor verplichting in 2017, maar een combinatie van de twee is sowieso uitgesloten.

Dat verkondigde FIA-wedstrijddirecteur Charlie Whiting. "Ik zie op dit moment geen mogelijkheid tot een soort samensmelting van de halo en het aeroscreen. We zien dat beide systemen voordelen hebben, maar aan allebei kleven ook nadelen. De halo kan bijvoorbeeld een kracht van vijftien keer het gewicht van een auto weerstaan, dat is indrukwekkend."

"Het probleem is alleen dat kleine onderdelen nog steeds richting de hoofden van de rijders kunnen vliegen. Het aeroscreen biedt daar bescherming tegen, maar heeft dan weer als nadeel dat het scherm vies of nat kan worden, wat het zicht van de coureur belemmert." De FIA is van plan om de halo verder uit te werken en te testen in België en Italië.

      maar wat is 17%?............17% van wat? Hoe groot is de kans dat er een onderdeeltje precies naar een coureur vliegt..... ik kan me alleen de veer die van Barrichello's auto afvloog naar Massa herinneren.......Als de kans dat iets precies naar de coureur vliegt 10% is (denk ik al aan de hoge kant) dan is de kans dat je beschermd wordt 17% van die 10%.......heb meer kans om de staatsloterij te winnen.

      Het is een waardeloos ding die Halo het ziet er niet uit en het helft helemaal niks ,kijk naar het ongeluk van Bryan Clauson dat zijn half dichte auto's ook daar kan het in gebeuren.
      Het is racen en het kan gevaarlijk zijn maar dat hoort erbij anders moet je een andere baan zoeken .
      Ook het ongeluk van Wilson vorig jaar had de Halo niet geholpen waarschijnlijk had het wiel dan klem gezeten in de Halo ,net als het stuk veer wat Massa tegen zijn hooft kreeg,als de veer tegen de Halo was aan geketst en naar beneden was gegaan had het vatale gevolgen gehad.

      @FRED hopelijk is dat sarcastisch bedoeld. F1 heeft geen HALO nodig zoals Lauda en anderen al aangaven.

      Ik denk als je het doet dan moet je het goed doen dus helemaal dicht, en anders laat je het zoals het is.
      De halo is volgens Max gevaarlijk omdat onderdelen kunnen afketsen en zo de coureurs kunnen raken.

      ik vind dat er helemaal niks op moet... tis niet voor niks een "open" klasse, anders kunnen ze net zo goed DTM gaan rijden

      daarbij, als ze op de kop liggen komt er niemand meer uit.....dus dat heft die 17% weer ruimschoots op denk ik... mijn conclusie............0 vooruitgang.... mooi laten zo... einde discussie

    Dus 17 procent meer veiligheid m.b.t. kleinere objecten. Dat is eigenlijk ontzettend weinig. Terwijl de wielen tegenwoordig vast zitten met kabels en daardoor (vrijwel) nooit meer los rondvliegen.
    De halo is dus een dure inefficiënte veiligheidsmaatregel. Ze kunnen beter de putdeksels met extra kabels vastmaken, dat lijkt mij veel effectiever.

      Als het echt zo weinig is, wat ik ook denk (gelukkig bevestigd), dan is het middel erger dan de kwaal...of...met een kanon op een mug schieten. Heeft geen nut !

      @Joop De halo biedt wel een hogere bescherming tegen grotere objecten, zoals wielen, maar die komen tegenwoordig niet meer los bij een crash.

    dit is juist waarom de hele discussie draait momenteel. en dat willen ze dus verhelpen met de halo. maar als er nog steeds kleine onderdelen richting de hoofden gaan en misschien zelfs wel raken is de hele discussie toch al gesloten?
    de Halo wordt het dan dus niet en bij het aeroscreen kunnen ze misschien wel zo'n aftrekbaar vizier gebruiken als op de helmen die je bij een bijvoorbeeld bij een pitstop eraf haalt.

    Waarom worden de Halo-testen niet gecombineerd met de Pirelli bandentest van 2017? Dan kan er gewoon rondenlang mee gereden worden i.p.v. 1 rondje aan het begin van het weekend, om vervolgens dat kreng er af te halen zodat er normaal aan het weekend begonnen kan worden.

    Je bent toch knettergek om een Halo te introduceren in de autosport. Wat een wereld. Er gebeurd een ongeluk en mensen gaan de gekste dingen verzinnen. Het is een ongeluk, het woord zegt het al. Pas als er om de haveklap een slachtoffer valt begrijp ik het maar incidentele ongelukken direct zien als groot gevaar is natuurlijk belachelijk. We leven straks in een wereld waarbij je een harnas aantrekt als je naar buiten gaat. En stalen kleding draagt om een kogel op te kunnen vangen. Hou toch op, een perfecte wereld bestaat niet en zal er ook nooit komen.
