Eerste F1-test smaakte naar meer voor Mazepin

Nikita Mazepin maakte vorige maand zijn debuut in een Formule 1-auto. De jonge Rus kwam bij de in-season test op Silverstone twee dagen in actie voor Force India. De 17-jarige Mazepin reed net iets meer dan honderd ronden en legde op de tweede dag beslag op de vierde plaats.

"Silverstone was een geweldige test, ik heb er echt van genoten. De auto was geweldig, het team was geweldig. Kortom, het begin van een droom die werkelijkheid wordt. De test verliep vrij soepel, hoewel het weer niet geweldig was. Voor de rest ging het goed. Ik hoop nu op meer testmogelijkheden om me elke keer weer verder te verbeteren", aldus Mazepin.

Hij combineert zijn werkzaamheden als ontwikkelingsrijder bij Force India met racen in de Formule 3. "De Formule 1 is veel sneller, genereert veel meer neerwaartse druk. Maar de Formule 3 is een goede leerschool voor de Formule 1. Beide klasses leunen meer op grip dan op kracht en dus is de manier waarop je remt voor bochten en bochten aansnijdt ongeveer hetzelfde."
