Haas worstelt minder met auto

Het debuterende Haas F1-team kent een verdienstelijk eerste seizoen in de Formule 1. De Amerikaanse renstal staat momenteel achtste in het kampioenschap en laat gevestigde namen als Renault en Sauber achter zich. Teameigenaar Gene Haas denkt dat Haas haar auto een stuk beter begrijpt dan in het begin van het seizoen.

Volgens Haas kost het de monteurs minder moeite om problemen op te lossen en is het aantal problemen met de auto flink gedaald: "In Melbourne en de Grand Prix daarna worstelden we behoorlijk als er problemen waren met een van de auto's. Nu weten we dat veel beter te managen. We komen nu aan op het circuit, maken de afstelling voor elkaar en zijn in de race meer bezig met de strategie."

Haas laat wel weten dat het scoren van punten lastiger is geworden, mede omdat Haas haar bolide niet meer ontwikkelt en de aandacht heeft verschoven naar 2017. Dat seizoen wordt een volgende uitdaging voor het nieuwste team in de sport.
