Travis Pastrana doet mee aan Race of Champions

Travis Pastrana is toegevoegd aan het deelnemersveld voor de eerstvolgende editie van de Race of Champions, in januari 2017 in Miami. Sebastian Vettel, Kurt Busch en Ryan Hunter-Reay hadden eerder al hun deelname aan het evenement toegezegd.

Pastrana: "Het mooiste aan de Race of Champions is dat je allemaal legendes en coureurs uit verschillende klasses als de Formule 1, NASCAR en IndyCar bij elkaar zet en het tegen elkaar op laat nemen, maar niet op hun specialiteit. Iedereen kan van elkaar winnen. Ik versloeg Vettel in Duitsland met een Porsche en met een Aston Martin, maar in Beijing was hij mij te snel af in een rally-auto, terwijl dat mij toch beter had moeten liggen."

"De Race of Champions is een geweldig evenement en de sfeer is altijd uitstekend. Het is meestal nadat het seizoen is afgelopen of in dit geval voordat de nieuwe jaargang begint, dus het is ontspannen en lol trappen. Ik bewaar prachtige herinneringen aan wat ik met andere coureurs bij de Race of Champions heb meegemaakt. Iedereen is competitief en wil winnen, maar het belangrijkste is dat we het allemaal naar de zin hebben."

Nog even ge-Wikipedia-ad: wat een talent, die Travis. Een echte petrol head. Wint alles in de motocross en besluit daarna de rally maar even te proberen. Wint ook meteen alles wat er maar te winnen valt.
