Raikkonen: "Slechts gissen naar reden voor verschil tussen Spa en Monza"

Met een vierde plaats in de kwalificatie duldde Kimi Raikkonen alleen de Mercedessen en teamgenoot Sebastian Vettel voor zich. Op het eerste gezicht lijkt er weinig mis met die prestatie, maar de achterstand van Raikkonen op pole-man Lewis Hamilton was maar liefst negen tienden van een seconde.

Afgelopen weekend op Spa-Francorchamps was het duel tussen Mercedes en Ferrari een stuk spannender, en Raikkonen verliet toen het circuit met het idee dat hij de pole had kunnen behalen. Hoe het kan dat het gat nu ineens zo groot is, weet de Fin niet. "Misschien had Mercedes wat probleempjes daar in vergelijking met hier. Ik verwachtte dat ze hier erg sterk zouden zijn en velen hadden verwacht dat ze dat ook op Spa zouden zijn. Daar hadden echter veel mensen moeite met de banden en het was daar voor niemand makkelijk", zo liet Raikkonen weten aan Crash.net.

"We hebben daar goed gepresteerd en het gat was klein. Hier is het gat groter en het is voor ons gissen naar de reden daarvan. Onze auto gedraagt zich hier net zo goed als op Spa maar op een of andere manier ziet het er heel anders uit. Ik denk dat het meer ligt aan dat Mercedes hier een normaal weekend beleeft en vorige week wat problemen had."

In de eerste run van Q3 was Raikkonen sneller dan teamgenoot Vettel, maar in de tweede run stak de Duitser hem met een tiende voorbij. Al met al kan de Fin daarmee leven. "Het zat dicht bij elkaar en een foutje kan je hier, omdat er weinig bochten zijn en veel lange rechte stukken, al snel veel tijd kosten. Toch was het een degelijke kwalificatie. We hadden graag hoger gestaan, maar dit is wat het is. De auto gedraagt zich zo goed als het kan. Morgen is er weer een nieuwe dag en we zullen proberen er het beste van te maken."

  Kennelijk heeft Kimi een klap op zijn achterhoofd gehad ... iets met Ferrari motor = veel power maar klote auto ... RB = fantastische auto, en motor met een klap minder pk's ... Op Baku en Monza na zal RB er structureel voor staan.

Engine Downgrade , het ziet zonnig uit tot laatste Gp , alle Tokens verbruikt , volgens mij is Vettel ook 5 kilo aangekomen.

  M.u.v de kwalificaties lijkt de Ferrari volgens veel berekeningen toch nagenoeg even sterk te zijn. Vrij recent is hier nog uitspraak over gedaan op basis van gps data die Lowe had geanalyseerd. Had dan weer meer te maken met het feit dat de klantenmotor van Merc een klap minder krachtig is. (hetgeen het artikel over ging)

  Nope dat hebben ze al meerdere keren bij Skysports F1 verteld Merc heeft een speciale engine mapping voor quali en lever de motor net even wat meer pk s voor een paar ronden. let morgen maar op dan zit er weer minder verschil in ronde tijden .

Hamilton deed op Spa geen gooi naar de pole.... Kijk nu naar het verschil tussen Hamilton en Rosberg en het verschil tussen Rosberg en Kimi.... Dan wordt het wel duidelijk :)
