Whiting ontkent sollicatiegesprekken met teams

Charlie Whiting, de wedstrijddirecteur bij de internationale autosportbond FIA, spreekt tegen dat hij zijn huidige baan binnenkort mogelijk verruilt voor een positie bij een van de teams. Auto Bild berichtte vorige week dat Whiting in België sollicitatiegesprekken voerde met meerdere renstallen.

Niets van waar, is Whiting stellig tegenover Auto Motor und Sport. "Dit is absurd, belachelijk. Ik weet niet waar deze verhalen vandaan komen, maar het is onzin."

Whiting begon in de Formule 1 als monteur en engineer bij het team van Brabham, dat toen onder aanvoering stond van Bernie Ecclestone. In 1988 ging hij als technisch afgevaardigde aan de slag bij de FIA. De internationale autosportbond benoemde hem in 1997 tot wedstrijdleider nadat McLaren gedreigd had om uit de Formule 1 te stappen als Whiting in was gegaan op een aanbieding van Benetton.

Overigens denk ik dat hij aardig op zijn plek zit nu. En afgezien van Ferrari de afgelopen weken, kunnen de verschillende teams... [Lees verder]

    vaak is het zo dat hoe stelliger de ontkenning, hoe meer er van de geruchten klopt.

      Met zo'n opmerking kun je elk gerucht wel in stand houden.

    Van mij mag hij vertrekken, vers bloed bij rijders moet ook in de hogere regionen van de FIA. Nieuw elan is welkom.

    ik ga er van uit dat er wel zoiets is als een concurrentiebeding in zijn contact en dat hij de komende jaren niet bij een team mag gaan werken als hij weg zou gaan
