Oprichter Formule E niet op weg naar Formule 1

Formule E-baas Alejandro Agag bestrijdt dat hij een rol gaat vertolken in de organisatie rondom de Formule 1 na de overname door Liberty Media. Het mediabedrijf is ook aandeelhouder voor de elektrische klasse en Agag stond aan de wieg van de Formule E.

De optelsom was deze week zo gemaakt door enkele media, maar Agag weet van niks. De Spanjaard deelde aan Marca mede: "De verhalen zijn niet waar. Wat wel klopt is dat ik nauwe banden heb met de nieuwe eigenaren van de Formule 1, omdat een van hun zusterbedrijven een belangrijke aandeelhouder voor de Formule E is. Meer is het niet. Er is geen contact geweest over een positie in de Formule 1 en ik zit prima op mijn plek."

Agag was via zijn bedrijf Addax in het verleden betrokken bij GP2-team Barwa Addax en hij handelde ook in de Formule 1-rechten voor de Spaanse televisie. De Spanjaard zou goed bevriend zijn met Bernie Ecclestone.
