Coureurs verlangen naar spannendere competitie

De Formule 1-coureurs hopen dat de komst van Liberty Media als nieuwe eigenaar de sport goed zal doen. Liberty kondigde vorige week aan 35 procent van de aandelen in de Formule 1 te bemachtigen en zich te positioneren als grootaandeelhouder. Nu is het nog de vraag welke concrete plannen het mediabedrijf met de Formule 1 heeft.

Enkele ideeën van rijders op een rijtje. Force India-coureur Sergio Pérez: "De competitie in de Formule 1 moet spannender worden. Ook teams in de middenmoot moeten een kans maken op een overwinning en zelfs een wereldtitel. Dat is alleen maar goed voor de fans! Daarvoor moet het hele systeem in de Formule 1 wel veranderen, zoals de verdeling van het geld."

Daniel Ricciardo van Red Bull Racing opperde met een glimlach: "Misschien kunnen we op zaterdag gaan racen? Dan kunnen we er elk weekend een mooie avond van maken!" Williams-rijder Valtteri Bottas wil liever het aanstaande seizoen afwachten voordat hij wilde suggesties doet: "Voor volgend jaar verandert er al een hoop in de Formule 1. Laten we eerst eens zien hoe dat gaat."

Ferrari-coureur Sebastian Vettel tot slot: "Ik geloof niet dat Liberty veel invloed uit zal oefenen op de auto's zelf. Maar als ze dat wel van plan zijn, dan wil ik graag een verzoek indienen voor twee keer zoveel cilinders en minder gecompliceerde elektronica. En misschien airco in de wagens, dat zou hier in Singapore wel van pas komen."

    Formule 1 moet richting het niveau van de motoGP. In deze serie maken andere rijders en teams ook kans op de overwinning. Als wereldkampioen wil worden moet je voor Mercedes rijden, anders kan je het schudden. Op zaterdag weet je dat Lewis of Nico met de pole vandoor gaat. Op deze manier wordt alles te voorspelbaar en minder aantrekkelijk!

      Jou post klopt niet echt. De laatste jaren verdelen de fabrieksteams van Honda en Yamaha de overwinningen. In de seizoenen 2011 tot en met 2015 (5 jaar dus) hebben deze 2 teams alle (!!!) overwinningen gepakt. Lorenzo, Rossi, Stoner, Spies, Marquez en Pedrosa zijn in die jaren de enige die een overwinning hebben gepakt. Als we nog wat verder kijken tot en met het seizoen 2008 blijkt dat alleen Ducati een overwinning heeft gepakt en Dovi. In 8 jaar slechts 8 winnaars, waarvan 2 er slechts 1 wonnen...

      Jij beweert dat in de laatste 8 jaar, er slechts 8 verschillende winnaars waren. De feiten zijn dat in de laatste 8 races, er 8 verschillende winnaars waren.. dus je zit er wel heeeeeeeel ver naast

    Op zaterdag racen (zal wel komisch bedoeld zijn) vind ik een slecht plan, op zondag veel makkelijker tijd vrij te maken dan op een zaterdag, lekker zo houden wat mij betreft.
    Eens met Sergio, qua verdeling van inkomsten en dergelijke kan zou er veel veranderd moeten worden om meer gelijkheid te creëren, de sport minder voorspelbaar maken is goed voor het publiek.
    Eens met Vettel vwb dikkere motoren, liefst met een fraai bijpassend geluid uiteraard, maar airco heeft enkel nut in een gesloten cockpit Seb, en dat mag van mij wegblijven ;)

    Spannender competitie? Doe dan net als bij de Indycar en NASCAR gewoon alleen aan safetycars en stop met de gele vlaggen. Zo komt het veld een paar keer per race toch nog bijelkaar.
