Singapore wacht ontwikkelingen in Formule 1 af

Onderhandelingen tussen de organisatie van de Grand Prix van Singapore en Formula One Management over een nieuw contract voor de Formule 1-race in het Aziatische stadstaatje hebben vooralsnog niets opgeleverd. De huidige verbintenis van Singapore loopt na 2017 af.

Afgelopen weekend sprak de organisatie van het evenement met een afvaardiging van FOM, maar in Singapore wacht men eerst af hoe de Formule 1 zich onder leiding van Liberty Media gaat manifesteren. Dat verklaarde S. Iswaran, minister van Handel en Industrie, aan de Straits Times.

"De nieuwe configuratie van de Formule 1 bevindt zich in een vroege fase, dus we geven ze tijd om alles tot bedaren te laten komen en na te denken over welke richting ze op willen. Ik plak geen deadline op onze contractbesprekingen, maar de verkoop van de Formule 1 is nog niet eens afgerond. Daarna zullen we met de nieuwe eigenaren om de tafel gaan zitten."

Van mij mag Signapore op de kalender blijven. Ik vind het een prachtige baan en zeker een gp die ik nog eens graag wil bezoeken. Veel meer uitstraling dan de avondrace in Abu Dhabi
