Deur naar de Formule 1 op een kiertje voor Auer

Lucas Auer heeft nooit een geheim gemaakt van zijn ambitie om ooit in de Formule 1 te racen. De Oostenrijker is momenteel voor Mercedes actief in de DTM. Het neefje van oud Formule 1-coureur Gerhard Berger doet het niet onverdienstelijk in de toerwagenklasse.

Mercedes-motorsportbaas Toto Wolff sprak de 22-jarige Auer via persbureau APA moed in. "Elke coureur droomt van de Formule 1. Pascal Wehrlein is het beste voorbeeld. Hij veroverde de titel in de DTM en dwong een kans in de Formule 1 af. Dus die deur staat open voor Lucas."

Het is dan wel op een klein kiertje, want Wolff geeft in hetzelfde gesprek aan dat geen Oostenrijkse coureur op dit moment aanspraak maakt op een kans in de Formule 1. "Ik zou graag zo snel mogelijk een landgenoot in de Formule 1 zien, maar ik ken geen Oostenrijker die daarvoor in aanmerking komt."

Tja Darlos, why not? Laat er een financiele regeling komen dat de 4 onderste teams een 3e wagen mogen inzetten mits deze bemand wordt door een jong talent.

    Hmmmm.... ik debk dat Auer de pech heeft dat er teveel generatie genoten zijn die beter zijn. Er is simpelweg teveel keuze voor de teams. En als er dan ook nog enkele zijn met een dikke sponsobuidel....

      Ik vind dat er sowieso te weinig teams zijn. Er moeten meer samenwerkingsverbanden komen ala RBR en STR. Zeker de grotere teams zouden dit kunnen doen. Maar ik kan me voorstellen dat het voor kleinere teams een middel kan zijn om kosten te delen.

      Het probleem voor die kleine teams is nou juist dat ze daar geen geld voor hebben. Dus zou er weer een pay driver in terechtkomen. En de grote teams gaan ook al die talenten niet sponsoren: ze hebben maar 2 toppers per generatie nodig.

    Zie dat persoonlijk nooit gebeuren : gebrek aan talent en geld.
    Als men vindt dat hij het niet onverdienstelijk doet in de DTM, dan zijn er nog verscheidenen die het beter doen. Momenteel staat Lucas namelijk 11de, vorig jaar was hij 23ste en in de F3 in 2014 werd hij 4de.
    Als dat de F1poort al opent met een kier, dan staan er nog 50 andere gegadigden voor hem te trappelen.

      Verstappen was 3e in de F3. En is nu een topper in de F1. Dus als Auer 4e was dan kan hij een heel verdienstelijke F1 coureur zijn. Het geeft alleen maar aan dat DTM een echt andere klasse is en ook niet echt een logische stap als je de F1 wil halen.

      Maar Max is een klasse apart. Niet te vergelijken met andere piloten die in 2014 meedingden naar de titel. Hij haalde 4x meer punten dan zijn dichtbijzijnde teamgenoot!
      Verstappen was inderdaad derde maar was intrinsiek VEEL beter dan de eerste (Ocon) en tweede (Blomqvist).
      Het was zijn debuutjaar in de eenzitters en de meeste andere hadden er al enkele jaren in de monoklasses opzitten.
      Daarenbovendien reed hij voor Van Amersfoort, een team uit de middenmotor terwijl naaste concurenten voor topteams uitkwamen.
      Ocon rijdt ondertussen ook F1 en ben ervan overtuigd dat hij nooit het niveau van Max halen zal, zelfs niet in een vergelijkbare F1 bolide.
