Ferrari herinnert Wolff aan begin van Mercedes

Mercedes-motorsportbaas Toto Wolff heeft concurrent Ferrari een hart onder de riem gestoken. De Italiaanse renstal krijgt - vooral in eigen land - veel kritiek te verduren voor het ietwat tegenvallende seizoen 2016. Ferrari won dit jaar nog geen race.

Gazzetta dello Sport vernam van Wolff: "Het Ferrari van nu herinnert me aan de begindagen van Mercedes een paar jaar geleden. Ook wij hadden in eerste instantie moeite om de juiste poppetjes op de juiste plaatsen te zetten. Het is een tijdrovend proces, maar het heeft zich voor ons wel uitbetaald."

Ferrari bezet momenteel de derde plaats in het kampioenschap voor constructeurs. De Scuderia moet niet alleen Mercedes, maar ook Red Bull Racing voor zich dulden. Ferrari staat op dit moment vijftien punten achter op de felbegeerde tweede plaats.

    Het enige wat het tegenvallend maakt is de strategie, ferrari had nu 2 of 3 races kunnen winnen

      Ferrari had inderdaad meteen in Australie al moeten toeslaan. In plaats daarvan zijn ze meteen in een negatieve spiraal beland.

      Het zat er toen wel in, ja.
      Toch is het raar dat ze het daarna niet op de rit hebben gekregen gedurende het seizoen.
      Diverse factoren, vooral qua afstelling en aero is het ze niet gelukt.
      Motor is iets minder krachtig dan Mercedes maar wel sterk zat. Dus daar ligt het niet aan.
      Het is aan de andere kant ook gewoon zo dat Mercedes nog eens zo'n 1,5 seconden sneller is geworden dan eind vorig jaar. Dat is gewoon erg knap!
      Daarom is het ook goed dat in 2017 de kaarten weer opgeschud worden met de nieuwe reglementen. Dan kun je natuurlijk nog steeds weer een sterk Mercedesteam krijgen, maar het geeft in ieder geval weer nieuwe kansen voor andere teams.

      Inderdaad, Ferrari doet al 60 jaar onafgebroken mee. Mercedes praktisch gezien maar 6-7 jaar.

      Mercedes drijft op de know how van McLaren. alleen de aandrijflijn is echt MB, en die is wel goed natuurlijk maar ik heb altijd nog liever een ster in m'n ruit als op m'n grill.
