Sky Sports zendt F1-races in 2017 in Ultra HD uit

Formula One Management en Sky Sports hebben bevestigd dat de Britse betaalzender volgend jaar alle Grands Prix in Ultra HD op de buis gaat brengen. Een proef met die techniek in Singapore verliep succesvol, waarna is besloten dat Sky in 2017 alle races in Ultra HD uit zal zenden.

De proef behelsde de installatie van diverse UHD-camera's rondom het circuit van Singapore. De beelden werden gemixt in het FOM-uitzendcentrum ter plekke en via de service van partner Tata Communications doorgestuurd naar Sky Sports in Osterley.

John Morrisson, technisch directeur bij FOM: "Dit bewezen concept in samenwerking met Sky en Tata demonstreert onze onophoudelijke toewijding om van de Formule 1 een ultieme sportervaring te maken door vooruitstrevende uitzendtechnieken te gebruiken."

    Hoop dat de rest snel volgd, echter zijn alle tuners in NL bij mij weten full HD.

      Toen breedbeeld uitkwam, duurde het jaren voordat de zenders breedbeeld formaat gingen uitzenden. Terwijl de bevolking massaal brede T.V.'s hadden aangeschaft bleven ze naar een uitgerekt beeld kijken. Zelfde geval met 720p later 1080p later 1080i en nu Ultra HD. Ik wacht met het kopen van een nieuwe T.V. totdat 3D de standaard is geworden.

      @kartal 3D gaat het helemaal niet redden, wordt nu al massaal gedumpt door de grote fabrikanten

      UHD tv's zijn de nieuwe standaard. Je moet er wel een hebben om UHD te kunnen zien (veel mensen snappen dat niet...), en 3D is een standaard feature vanaf de meeste 65' tv's.
      Terwijl de 8K technologie (de volgende stap) al ontwikkeld is zijn de meeste zenders nog volledig opgezet voor SD! Daarnaast is de technologie qua kabel tv niet UHD capable.
      Hier in America kunnen broadcasters als Time Warner Cable en Comcast niet beter dan full SD (720), de enige kabelmaatschappijen die beter doen zijn Verizon en AT&T met HD (1080i). Alleen de satteliet providers DirecTV en Dish hebben full HD (1080p). En DirecTV is de enige met UHD kanalen!
      UHD is beschikbaar on demand (streamen over internet dus) van Verizon, AT&T, DirecTV, Dish, en streaming diensten van Netflix,Amazon, Hulu, en YouTube.

    "Ziggo Sport binnenkort klaar voor Ultra HD

    " De betaalzender verhuist binnenkort van het DMC in Amsterdam naar het Mediapark in Hilversum. De verhuizing zorgt er niet alleen voor dat alle zenders in HD-kwaliteit bij aanbieders aangeleverd gaan worden. Ziggo Sport-woordvoerder Martijn van Opstal liet Totaal TV onlangs desgevraagd weten dat de verhuizing naar het Mediapark in Hilversum het ook mogelijk maakt om content in Ultra HD aan te gaan bieden."

    "Mogelijk dat dit in de loop van 2017 wel gaat plaatsvinden als Ziggo en Ziggo Sport-eigenaar Liberty Global een 4K Ultra HD-model van de Horizon TV mediabox op de markt heeft gebracht."

    Geweldig nieuws en de ontwikkelingen op TV gebied gaan lekker, zeker als je bedenkt dat Alonso in een analoog VHS tijdperk debuteerde met 4:3 beeld.

    Ja Ultra HD is geweldig. Je kan de coureur in zijn cockpit zien twitteren. Echt een aanwinst om de sport aantrekkelijker te maken. Als je de auto voor je raam parkeert en gedurende de race de motor laat draaien, heb je 7D effect compleet met Utlra beeld en uitlaatgassen. Alsof je op de tribune zit.
