Sauber per 2018 een klantenteam van Honda?

Honda treft achter de schermen voorbereidingen om in de toekomst een tweede renstal van motoren te voorzien. De Japanse autofabrikant is nu nog exclusief verbonden aan McLaren, maar vanaf 2018 moet het mogelijk zijn om motoren te leveren aan een klantenteam.

Blick bericht dat het team van Sauber de meest realistische gegadigde is om per 2018 motoren van Honda af te nemen. De Zwitserse equipe rijdt op dit moment nog met Ferrari-aandrijving. Sauber is echter niet meer zo gelukkig met de samenwerking met Ferrari, dat zich meer en meer concentreert op nieuwe partner Haas F1 Team.

Haas F1 en Sauber zijn volgens Blick de enige twee kandidaten voor klantenmotoren van Honda. Williams, Force India en Manor blijven bij Mercedes, Toro Rosso keert in 2017 terug naar Renault en Red Bull Racing is tevreden over de vorderingen van de Franse autofabrikant. Haas F1 gaat waarschijnlijk door met Ferrari, dus is Sauber de enige echte optie voor Honda.

De Japanse motorenpartner van McLaren kwam vorige week in het nieuws omdat het de capaciteit van de fabriek in Milton Keynes uitgebreid heeft. Honda is er bijna klaar voor om meer teams van motoren te voorzien.

    Tsja, vanaf volgend jaar zou handiger zijn.. Het nieuwe motor design vraagt ook wel behoorlijk wat testwerk denk ik, dat kun je beter met z'n tweeën doen dan met 1 team.

    De huidige Mercedes klantenteams zouden wel gek zijn als ze hun superieure Mercedes motor inruilen voor een Honda krachtbron. Red Bull en Toro Rosso zitten goed bij Renault. Haas is een soort van Ferrari B-team en verdient dus de voorkeur boven Sauber.

    Sauber zou het eigenlijk zo moeten spelen dat men naast de Honda motoren ook een samenwerking met McLaren aangaat om zo weer mee te kunnen doen voor de punten. Voordeel voor McLaren is dat men dan een nieuw talent een plekje kan geven bij Sauber en zo de genante situatie van Alonso/Button/Vandoorne (en de twee beschikbare stoeltjes) in de toekomst kan voorkomen als het nodig is.

      Misschien rijden de andere teams wel met dezelfde mechanische specs, maar Mercedes zelf heeft een heel andere software,waardoor ze veel meer uit hun motor kunnen halen. Als ze overstappen naar Honda zullen precies hetzelfde krijgen als McLaren.

      Dat eerste heb ik nog niet eerder gehoord (wat niet wil zeggen dat het onjuist is) en hoe kun je dat tweede nou weten zonder dat er een tweede team is dat met Honda motoren rijdt?

      Kiezen voor Honda is ook een beetje kiezen voor het onbekende. Ik acht Honda prima in staat om vooraan mee te doen qua motoren (zeker met de wijziging in de regels). Als Sauber het gevoel heeft dat men met de Ferrari motoren niet verder komt dan kan de overstap op Honda best wel eens een goede zijn.

      Wat betreft het tweede deel van de reactie van PIPO.
      Ik meende laatst op een duitse site gelezen te hebben dat Mercedes een bepaalde instelling heeft waarbij ze gedurende 50 seconden ongeveer 80pk kunnen genereren.

      Dit zou vooral blijken uit de snelle kwalificaties in bepaalde sectoren en om afstand te nemen gedurende de start. Dit is een niet bevestigd verhaal, maar gedaan op basis van metingen door een onafhankelijk bureau.

      @ NBTT: ik heb maar één account hoor. Maar bij een topic van afgelopen zaterdag of vrijdag was ik het niet zo eens met Kartal, en ik geloof dat ik daar nu de rekening voor gepresenteerd krijg.

      Kleutergedrag, maar daar sterft het van hier op het forum. Echter, je moet niet, over wie dan ook, zeggen dat hij of zij bepaald ongeluk verdiend heeft middels "karma".

      Mee eens. Sinds dit jaar is het alleen maar erger geworden. Gevoel bevestigd wanneer ik zie dat Kartal sinds 11 juni dit jaar geregistreerd staat.. 't voegt allemaal niks meer toe.

      Ik denk dat Honda dat best zou willen . of Mclaren er blij mee is dat weet ik zeker van niet.

    Zo'n zekerheid is het niet dat Williams of Force India trouw zullen blijven aan Mercedes. Als Honda het betere pakket kan leveren (lees: alle nieuwe dingen zoals enginemappings e.d.), dan is dat een voordeel voor deze twee teams ten opzichte van Mercedes.
    Bovendien denk ik dat een Honda meer heeft aan een team als Williams of Force India dan aan een Sauber. Puur gezien het budget, knowhow, middelen en klasseringen de afgelopen jaren, zouden deze twee teams bij Honda op het verlanglijstje moeten staan. Met de genoemde middelen van de twee teams kan Honda sneller beter worden dan wanneer het een armlastige Sauber als klant heeft.

    Als ik Ferrari was zou ik eens met Honda gaan praten. Honda zit duidelijk in een opgaande spiraal en die Ferrari motor loopt al jaren achter de feiten aan.
