'Key vanaf 2018 technisch directeur bij Williams'

James Key vervolgt zijn loopbaan na 2017 bij het team van Williams. Dat bericht brengt Auto Motor und Sport. Key is op dit moment nog werkzaam voor Scuderia Toro Rosso, maar Williams zou hem al gepolst hebben om in 2018 de huidige technisch directeur Pat Symonds af te lossen.

Symonds wordt dan namelijk 65 jaar en gaat waarschijnlijk met pensioen. Williams ziet in Key de ideale opvolger. Red Bull-motorsportadviseur Helmut Marko gaf toe: "Het is heel goed mogelijk dat James aan het eind van zijn huidige contract verhuist naar een ander team." De verbintenis van Key met Red Bull loopt na volgend jaar af.

De rijderscarrousel is tijdelijk tot stilstand gekomen, maar achter de schermen trekken teams aan engineers van andere renstallen. Ferrari heeft bandenspecialisten van Sauber overgenomen, Haas F1 Team verwelkomde een strateeg van Mercedes en Renault heeft engineers weggekaapt bij Force India.

De meest begeerde engineer zit op dit moment echter werkloos thuis. James Allison wordt met veel teams in verband gebracht. Daar hoorde ook Williams bij, maar zij zouden de voorkeur geven aan Key. Renault en McLaren dingen nog wel naar de hand van Allison, maar ook Red Bull Racing. De Oostenrijkse renstal zoekt nog iemand om fulltime bij het Formule 1-team te betrekken, aangezien Adrian Newey zijn tijd en energie ook in andere projecten steekt.

Ik zou het heel jammer voor STR vinden als Key daar weg zou gaan, maar gelukkig klopt de titel van dit bericht niet.
Het staat helemaal niet vast dat :

zou juist mooi zijn dat Key naar de grote redbull ging. Maar was Sauber niet dat de ferrari banden specialist heeft overgenomen..?? vind het maar raar* alison voor Redbull zou zoiezo al nie goe zijn....

Het gerucht gaat dat " James Allison replaces Adrian Newey in 2018"
volgens The Judge13.
Allison is goed, maar Newey lijkt mij veel beter.

Mooie stap voor williams. En begin toch ook het gevoel te krijgen dat str als opleidingsteam van redbull komt te vervallen.niet goed voor str dit bericht.

  Wellicht dat de rivaliteit bij Toro Rosso begin dit seizoen en de interne keuzes en het mogelijk voortrekken van bepaalde partijen (Sainz?) wat wel eens werd beweerd bij Red Bull heeft doen inzien wat voor vlees ze echt met hem in de kuip hebben?
