Race of Champions strikt Montoya en Kanaan

De organisatie van de Race of Champions heeft twee Indy 500-winnaars aan het deelnemersveld toegevoegd. IndyCar-coureurs Juan Pablo Montoya en Tony Kanaan nemen op 21 en 22 januari deel aan het evenement in Miami. Voor Montoya betreft het de eerste keer dat hij meedoet. Kanaan was in 2004 al eens van de partij.

Montoya: "Ik kijk echt uit naar mijn eerste Race of Champions-ervaring. Het is een evenement waar ik altijd al eens aan deel heb willen nemen en dat het nu in eigen huis in Miami kan maakt het extra speciaal. De Race of Champions brengt coureurs uit diverse klasses bij elkaar. Toen ik in de Formule 1 racete was Sebastian Vettel nog een aanstormend talent, inmiddels is hij viervoudig kampioen. Er staan alleen maar toppers aan de start. Het zou mooi zijn om in dat veld te winnen."

Kanaan: "Ik herinner me nog dat ik in 2004 enorm genoten heb van de Race of Champions in Parijs. Ik woon in Miami, het evenement vindt nu dus plaats in mijn achtertuin en dat was de perfecte gelegenheid om weer eens mee te doen en het op te nemen tegen topcoureurs van over de hele wereld. Ik ben benieuwd wat de organisatie voor ons in petto heeft in Marlins Park."
