Hamilton en Rosberg maken volgende week kennis met 2017 Pirelli-band

Pirelli is al maanden druk bezig met de ontwikkeling van de banden voor het nieuwe Formule 1-seizoen. De banden worden breder en Red Bull Racing, Ferrari en Mercedes werkten al testprogramma's af met de 2017-specificatie van de Italiaanse bandenleverancier. Volgende week is het bij Mercedes echter de beurt aan Lewis Hamilton en Nico Rosberg om voor het eerst met de nieuwe banden te rijden. Ferrari liet Sebastian Vettel en Kimi Raikkonen eerder al kennis maken met het nieuwe rubber.

Pirelli werkt volgende week in Barcelona een tweedaagse test af met het team van Mercedes. Op woensdag komt drievoudig wereldkampioen Lewis Hamilton in actie, terwijl Nico Rosberg donderdag zijn opwachting mag maken. Tot dusver werkte Mercedes de bandentests af met Manor-coureur Pascal Wehrlein. Wehrlein is ook als testcoureur aan Mercedes verbonden. Bij Red Bull werden alle tests gedaan door voormalig Toro Rosso-coureur Sebastien Buemi.
