Lewis Hamilton: "Pole niet noodzakelijk om race te kunnen winnen"

Het scheelde niet veel of Lewis Hamilton was de Grand Prix van Japan van pole position gestart. De Brit kwam echter een fractie tekort op teamgenoot Nico Rosberg en zal als tweede starten. Geen ramp volgens Hamilton, de afgelopen drie jaren heeft de als tweede gestarte coureur immers de race gewonnen.

"Ik ben tevreden met mijn kwalificatie. We hebben hard gewerkt om de afstelling goed te krijgen, ik was daar niet helemaal tevreden over. Voor de kwalificatie hebben we ook nog flink wat dingen gewijzigd, mijn tijd is daarom erg goed. Als we meer rondjes hadden gehad, had er nog meer in gezeten. Pole is echter niet noodzakelijk om hier te winnen. Felicitaties aan Nico Rosberg, hij heeft het fantastisch gedaan", aldus Lewis Hamilton.
