Lauda en Wolff praten over contractverlenging

Teampresident Niki Lauda en motorsportbaas Toto Wolff hebben de onderhandelingen met Mercedes over een nieuw contract geopend. De beide Oostenrijkers zijn niet alleen in dienst bij de Duitse renstal, maar tevens aandeelhouders. Hun verbintenissen lopen echter na 2017 af.

Lauda schetst de situatie in Osterreich: "Toto en ik praten met Mercedes over het verlengen van onze contracten, die na volgend jaar aflopen. Voor hoeveel jaar ik bijteken, weet ik nog niet. Het Concorde Agreement loopt tot en met 2020, het zou logisch om die periode vol te maken. Ik geloof dat het mogelijk is."

De drievoudig wereldkampioen Formule 1 zou op dit moment 750.000 euro verdienen bij Mercedes. Lauda zou echter aansturen op een salarisverhoging na drie opeenvolgende titels voor de Duitse renstal.
