Toro Rosso houdt vast aan nieuw aero pakket

Scuderia Toro Rosso gaat verder met het aerodynamische pakket dat het eind juli bij de Grand Prix van Duitsland introduceerde. De upgrade schepte verwarring bij de Italiaanse renstal. Het pakket bleek namelijk niet gelijk een schot in de roos. Toro Rosso vergeleek in Singapore de oude en de nieuwe componenten met elkaar.

Het opleidingsteam van Red Bull kwam tot de conclusie dat de nieuwe onderdelen niet de oorzaak voor de terugval waren en gaat er dus mee verder. Coureur Carlos Sainz legt uit: "De keuze is gevallen op het nieuwe pakket, al zagen we geen grote verschillen. Een tiende meer of minder, het maakte qua pakket niet echt uit."

"Er zit geen fout in het nieuwe pakket, de onderdelen doen wat ze moeten doen. Jammer genoeg voor ons hebben de teams om ons heen zich meer verbeterd dan wij, waardoor we niet staan waar we willen staan. De andere renstallen hebben grotere stappen gezet met hun updates voor de motoren en voor de aerodynamica."
