Teams hakken knoop door: wintertests vinden plaats in Barcelona

De kogel is door de kerk: de wintertests ter voorbereiding op het 2017-seizoen vinden plaats in het Spaanse Barcelona op het Circuit de Catalunya. Pirelli wilde graag een deel van de teams laten testen in Barcelona en een ander deel in Bahrein, om het gedrag van de nieuwe banden bij hoge temperaturen beter te begrijpen.

De kleine teams lieten al snel weten niet naar Bahrein te gaan vanwege financiële redenen. Ook een aantal van de grote teams wilde niet naar Bahrein. In Austin, waar dit weekend de Grand Prix van de Verenigde Staten wordt gehouden, kwamen de teams bijeen tussen beide vrije trainingen en werd besloten om alle teams te laten testen in Barcelona.
