Williams-coureurs strijdbaar na kwalificatie

Met positie acht en negen staan Williams-coureurs Felipe Massa en Valtteri Bottas tussen concurrent Force India in. Het gat met Force India en de vierde plaats in het kampioenschap is inmiddels tien punten en Williams wil er alles aan doen om dat gat te verkleinen en Force India uiteindelijk te verslaan.

Felipe Massa, die nog vier races rijdt en daarna afscheid neemt van de sport, kwam tot een negende tijd. De Braziliaan over zijn kwalificatie: "In mijn rondje maakte ik een fout en daardoor verloor ik wat tijd. Gelukkig staan we tussen beide wagens van Force India is, dat is belangrijk. Zij hebben een auto die de laatste tijd duidelijk beter is, dus is het belangrijk om in de buurt te staan en op basis van start en strategie ervoor te komen."

Valtteri Bottas kwalificeerde zich een plaatsje hoger dan Massa en kijkt als volgt terug op de kwalificatie: "Dit is de positie waar wij op dit moment thuis horen. We hebben kans om Force India te verslaan, onze racesnelheid is namelijk niet slecht. We hebben een agressieve strategie nodig om Nico Hülkenberg voorbij te komen in de race."
